Left-wing union says nurses are divided on vaccine mandates, recommends against them

The nurses union believes that mandatory COVID vaccines will only "exacerbate" the chronic issue of short-staffed hospitals.

The Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA), a left-wing union that supports universal health care, said its members are divided on the issue of mandatory COVID vaccines and recommended that hospital vaccination programs be voluntary.

Their recommendation stems from the results of an internal survey asking MNA members about their stances on a vaccine mandate. A press release says the survey yielded a “wide variety” of responses — so wide that the MNA Board of Directors refuses to support mandates and has endorsed voluntary programs instead.

In their Thursday statement, the MNA Board also expressed their belief that mandatory COVID vaccines will only “exacerbate” the chronic issue of short-staffed hospitals, which they claim is a “deliberate” measure to cut costs.

“We question the timing of the impending vaccine mandates and believe these mandates will continue to exacerbate staffing shortages,” they said.

Protesters Stage Walkouts Across California In Defiance Of School Vaccine Mandates

Charlotte Pence Bond

Oct 18, 2021

On Monday, faculty and students at schools across the state of California staged walkouts in defiance of vaccine and testing requirements set to take effect this week.

As reported by the Los Angeles Daily News:

The Daily News noted that the demonstrators included people with a wide range of opinions about the vaccine. It added, “Amanda, the founder of the group who did not want her full name used out of concern for retaliation against her family, said some group members have gotten their COVID-19 shots and that some have children who have received all other immunization shots that the state requires of students attending school in person.”

“Not everyone in the group opposes vaccines in general, but they are concerned about exposing children to a vaccine whose long-term impacts haven’t been fully studied,” she said.

Local Southern California outlet ABC 7 added, “[o]rganizers called for parents to keep their children home or pull them from class as a form of protest against Gov. Gavin Newsom’s COVID vaccine mandate.”

CDC Plans to 'Educate and Counsel' the Unvaccinated

With the CDC expanding eligibility for COVID-19 booster shots— endorsing both the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines, while also approving a mix-and-match approach to boosters— CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky joined “Fox News Sunday”.:snip:

Quote

“There is a plan, should these people not want to be vaccinated, toward education and counseling to get people the information they need so that they are feeling comfortable in getting vaccinated.”

West Point Cadets Who Chose to Leave West Point Rather Than Take COVID Vaccine Were Coerced, Abused and Discriminated Against

In spring of 2021, we were told that our decision to volunteer to get the “optional” COVID-19 vaccine would not negatively affect our time as a cadet at West Point. That turned out to be a false promise.

Before being ordered to sign a document saying we were disobeying orders (orders we considered unlawful) in the summer and fall of 2021, we were:

  • Forced to share a bathroom and living quarters with the males because we were in the ostracized unvaccinated platoon during summer training.
  • Forced to attend a “re-education brief” led only by vaccinated personnel (who denied unvaccinated personnel the opportunity to sit on the panel).
  • Subjected to COVID testing twice a week at 6 am, regardless of not having COVID symptoms. The vaccinated can also contract and pass COVID but were not tested.
  • Not allowed to leave campus with our friends because our radius was restricted compared to the vaccinated.
  • Denied a pass for being unvaccinated.
  • (Nickaylah) Kicked off the women’s rowing team, because it was too high of a risk to participate in physical activities outside, but sitting in class right next to other cadets and eating at mandatory lunches side-by-side was not a problem.:snip:

New Lancet Study Has Interesting Finding About Covid-19 Transmission Among the Vaccinated

A new Lancet study about the transmission of Covid-19 among the vaccinated vs. unvaccinated is raising questions for some about vaccine mandates.

The study on “Community transmission and viral load kinetics” of the Delta variant in both the vaccinated and unvaccinated in the UK found the former were just as likely as the latter to spread Covid-19 among those in their household.

The vaccinated also had a similar viral load as the unvaccinated.

“Although vaccines remain highly effective at preventing severe disease and deaths from COVID-19, our findings suggest that vaccination is not sufficient to prevent transmission of the delta variant in household settings with prolonged exposures,” noted the paper, which studied 621 symptomatic participants over a year.

Significantly, the research found the vaccine was much more effective at reducing transmission of the alpha variant in a household, rather than the delta variant.

For some, the findings raise serious questions about vaccine mandates and lockdown efforts that governments around the world have pursued in an effort to contain the pandemic. :snip:
