Biden Admin Charging U.S. Citizens $2,000 For Evacuation Flights Out Of Afghanistan, Report Says

Ryan Saavedra

Aug 19, 2021

A report published on Thursday alleged that the Biden administration was charging U.S. citizens for evacuation flights out of Afghanistan, and even more for non-citizens.

“Even though U.S. officials tell NatSec Daily and others that evacuation flights from Kabul will be free, people trying to catch a plane in the Afghan capital say differently,” Politico reported. “One person said State Department staff were seeking large payments — up to $2,000 — from American passengers and even more from non-U.S. citizens.”

Politico says that it confronted the State Department over the matter, which they said did not deny that it was happening.

The Washington Examiner highlighted that a separate State Department webpage on crisis situations stated the following:

US diplomats sent memo urging swift evacuation of Afghan allies weeks before Taliban takeover

U.S. diplomats issued an internal memo last month urging top State Department officials to take urgent action with evacuations as the Aug. 31 military withdrawal deadline approached.

The cable warning of the possible fall of Kabul soon after the troop pullout, sent through the agency's confidential dissent channel on July 13, pressed the Biden administration to begin collecting information from Afghans who qualify for Special Immigrant Visas and start evacuation flights no later than Aug. 1, sources told the Wall Street Journal .:snip:

Fleeing Americans beaten by Taliban in Kabul, Pentagon chief tells Congress

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told members of Congress on a conference call Friday that Americans attempting to evacuate Afghanistan have been beaten by the Taliban, directly contradicting President Biden’s assertion that U.S. citizens were not being blocked from the airport, two lawmakers told The Post.

Striking a decidedly more concerned tone than the commander in chief, Austin called the abuse of Americans at the hands of the Taliban “unacceptable” as lawmakers sought answers on how the Biden Administration is attempting to get U.S. citizens and allies out of the country.

“Within 30 minutes of Biden saying it publicly, the Secretary of Defense directly contradicted him,” one senior GOP lawmaker told The Post.:snip:

US supporters trapped in Kabul 'hunted like animals' by Taliban: Sara Carter

As the Taliban takes control of Afghanistan following the Biden administration's chaotic withdrawal, untold numbers of American citizens, Afghan translators and U.S.-allied individuals remain trapped behind the militant group's checkpoints, as Fox News contributor Sara Carter and Fox Nation host Lara Logan described the widespread fear gripping the war-torn nation.

"People are living in terror right now," Carter said Friday on "Hannity," recounting reports from sources and friends in Afghanistan of Taliban militants summarily "hunting [them] down like animals."

"I have been speaking to over 30 people in various different groups. Some of my sources are around the Kabul embassy and around, as well, the Kabul International Airport. They are in hiding. They have been beaten. I have one source that was beaten so badly, his leg was almost broken," she said.

Carter said some of those people have been able to make it to the gates of the airport, just to find them arbitrarily closed or unguarded.

"[They] cannot get into the Kabul airport because there is no one to allow them into the gate. The gates have been open, they have been shut. Now we are hearing they may open again. I have other family members at home who are calling me during the day and during the middle of the night, I can literally hear the gunfire outside of their homes, as the Taliban is searching for them."

As the Taliban takes control of biometric identification systems left behind by the former government, both Carter and Logan said the militants have the capability to identify those who will be "hunted" and killed.:snip:

US general tells British special forces: Stop rescuing people in Kabul, you're making us look bad

I understand that the commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division has told the commander of the British special forces at the Kabul airport to cease operations beyond the airport perimeter.

Maj. Gen. Christopher Donahue has told his British Army counterpart, a high-ranking field-grade officer of the British army's 22nd Special Air Service Regiment, that British operations were embarrassing the United States military in the absence of similar U.S. military operations. I understand that the British officer firmly rejected the request.:snip:

In addition, the British military has more operational latitude in Kabul than the U.S. military, including the Navy SEAL elements present at the airport. I understand that the SAS has conducted operations to bring American citizens, as well as British citizens and at-risk personnel, through checkpoints and to the airport. This is not an indictment on U.S. capabilities or special operations intent, but rather, it's a reflection of political-military authorities. In part, this difference is understandable. Large-scale U.S. military operations beyond the Kabul airport perimeter would entail significant risk absent prior Taliban approval. But there is a sense, at least by allies, that the U.S. military could be doing more to leverage the Taliban into providing greater ease of access to the airport for those most at risk.

A bureaucratic tug of war between the State Department, Pentagon, and White House is also disrupting evacuation operations out of Kabul. This is aggravating British, French, and other Kabul-present military authorities. I understand that these governments have been further aggravated by the failure of the White House and Pentagon to communicate adequately, or in some cases, to communicate at all, on their intentions and actions. All these allies admit, however, that only the U.S. military could provide the airfield defense and air traffic control capabilities now on display.

Could (say) George Stephanopoulos, Chuck Schumer, The New York Times a former newspaper do anything Close To That? I can say with 99% confidence OH HELL NO!!! In fact the idea of doing this would not ever occur to them.

Chaos Reigns

Military planes evacuating Afghans drop flares and make 'diving combat landings' amid fears of ISIS missile attacks as TWENTY die including girl, two, at Kabul airport in stampede to escape Taliban before US lifeline ends

  • At least 20 Afghan civilians have been killed in the past seven days in and around Kabul airport
  • The situation has taken a turn for the worse, with four Afghan women crushed to death on Saturday
  • Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul has been the focal point for thousands trying to flee the Taliban
  • MoD looking at establishing processing 'hubs' for Afghan refugees in countries such as Pakistan and Turkey
  • However, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace says Afghans fleeing the Taliban may have to escape themselves
  • It comes amid fears of an August 31 rescue deadline, when it is believed the US will pull its remaining troops
  • The 900 British troops in Afghanistan cannot remain without logistical support of 6,000 US soldiers in Kabul
  • They will therefore have to finish the evacuation before that point to allow them to safely escape Afghanistan

Afghan allies trapped behind Taliban lines turn to prayers and unofficial channels as Aug. 31 deadline nears

Chaos, confusion and terror have marked the Biden administration’s Afghanistan withdrawal over the past week, with Americans and Afghan allies pleading for help escaping Taliban-controlled Kabul and uncertainty at the city’s U.S.-held airport.

And with special immigrant visa applicants cut off from escape by Taliban checkpoints, retired Marine Corps Sgt. Ryan Rogers told Fox News Tuesday that non-government organizations have been working through unofficial channels to try to help.

"Everyone is p---ed about this even being necessary," he said. "But if the president doesn't want to step up and lead, someone else will.":snip:

Americans Await Evacuation As Biden Takes A Knee To Taliban

When President Joe Biden met with this year’s WNBA champions Seattle Storm in the White House on Monday, he took a symbolic knee, apparently to show he’s Woke. No surprise. He just took a knee before the Taliban, too, after the terrorist group’s humiliating rejection of his request for an “extension” on his Aug. 31 deadline for evacuating Afghanistan.

Biden’s plans, if you can call them that, to get Americans out of Afghanistan have been an epic disaster. It’s almost impossible to exaggerate the incompetence and duplicity of Biden and his administration.:snip:

Screw Biden: CIA and US Troops Are Conducting Rescue Operations to Evacuate Stranded Americans

To Americans who might be trapped in Afghanistan after August 31, the Biden administration has two words for you: good luck. Oh, you can send an email or something to let the Biden White House know you want to leave post-deadline, but the overall message is clear. You’re on your own. Biden is going to leave Americans behind. They’ve admitted it. Why? Well, because they don’t want to anger…the Taliban. Oh, and they trust them to behave. That’s the policy. We shouldn’t have expected much because Democrats are terrible, but holy hell, guys.

The Taliban has set up checkpoints around the airport in Kabul. You can’t get to it. It’s not easy. Americans are having their passports seized. They’re being beaten by Taliban forces. It’s not safe. On top of this fiasco, al-Qaeda and ISIS are on the hunt as well. Everything that Biden has said about Afghanistan has been refuted by EVERYONE, including liberal media outlets. It’s a disaster—and Joe seems to be more concerned about build back better. That’s all you need to know about how much Joe cares; he doesn’t.:snip:
