Republican Study group calls $1T infrastructure deal a ‘Trojan horse’ for Democrats

:snip:

He also says the legislation would give "woke" regulators the ability to decide "where and when broadband expansion occurs," citing a provision written into that bill’s "Digital Equity Act of 2021" that bars discrimination based on "gender identity" and which was highlighted on Twitter by the American Principles Project, a conservative political action committee.

"This should be a deal-breaker for Senate Rs," the APP tweeted.

The memo mockingly suggests that the bill "fixes ‘racism’ in highways" by noting how Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in April told the website "The Grio" that roadways in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, DC, were "built at the expense of communities of color."

"There is racism physically built into some of the highways, and that’s why the jobs plan has specifically committed to reconnect some of the communities that were divided," Buttigieg said at the time.

Banks also says that a plan to spend $15 billion on charging stations for electric vehicles, as well as electric buses and other mass transit, overwhelmingly favors people who live in "blue" — or Democratic — cities.:snip:

People are finding more and more insane stuff in the 2,702 page “infrastructure” bill. You won’t believe what Congress is spending your money on.

The Senate is deliberating this week on a giant $1 trillion bill that is addressing America's "infrastructure" – you know, like roads, bridges, climate change, and "whiteness."

The draft of the bill is an insane 2,702 pages long.

(Snip)

When the draft leaked over the weekend, Breitbart reported that the bill included provisions for busing "equity" and forced climate programs.

Since the bill was so massive, however, no one had yet had time to see exactly how much garbagio was shoved into this wonderful bill. A few days later, we now have a better picture.

Would you like to go on a journey with me?

[Warning: Some colorful language]

We start with, $250 million – the equivalent of winning a jackpot lotto – to remove an invasive plant species.

Key Senate vote on $1 trillion infrastructure bill expected Saturday

Melissa Quinn

Aug. 6 2021

Washington — The Senate debated amendments to the $1 trillion, 2,700 page bipartisan infrastructure bill late into the night Thursday before Majority Leader Chuck Schumer adjourned the session and said proceedings would resume Saturday.

The New York Democrat said there would be a vote to cut off debate on the measure at the beginning of that session. A green light would set the stage for a vote on final passage early next week.

Many senators are expected to be out of town Friday to attend a memorial service for former Senator Mike Enzi, a Republican from Wyoming, who died last week after a bicycle accident.

Earlier Thursday, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that the bill would add $256 billion to the federal deficit over the next decade.

The legislation includes $550 billion in new spending for the nation's physical infrastructure. The agency said that from 2021 to 2031, the legislation would decrease direct spending by $110 billion, boost revenues by $50 billion and increase discretionary spending by $415 billion.

I would like to say I am shock and surprised at this. But I can't. I also suspect there are more "goodies" tucked away in odd corners of this POS. All I needed to about this POS I found when Sen John Thune said those 5 words Two Thousand Seven Hundred Pages.

There may be the 1st vote on this POS today. 1 thing we will learn if this happens today is which Republican Senators needs to be taken to the woodshed and which don't.

Biden administration defends provision in infrastructure bill that would make it harder for decentralized Big Tech challengers

Cementing the dominance of Big Tech.

Rick Findlay

Aug. 6 2021

The Biden administration has been quietly defending a provision in the Infrastructure Bill that could affect developers trying to build alternatives to Big Tech platforms through blockchain technology.

The inclusion of the provision is rather hypocritical for an administration that has been making big claims about how it will be tough on Big Tech and yet is actively cracking down on those who want to offer decentralized alternatives to Big Tech monopolies.

The cryptocurrency provision, which was recently added to the Infrastructure Bill, is being touted as being about ensuring crypto holders pay their taxes.

But, according to Fight for the Future, the provision is “so poorly written that it would create reporting requirements demanding people like software developers and even volunteers within decentralized tech projects hand over data or conduct surveillance of their users.”

Newt Gingrich: Dems’ unified decision to pass a $3.5 trillion bill as inflation soars is political suicide

The $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill is $27,000 for every American

Newt Gingrich

Aug. 9 2021

The $3.5 trillion spending bill set up to follow the $1.1 trillion infrastructure bill (which has little to do with infrastructure) should be called what it really is: The Higher Inflation and Bigger Debt Act.

The Democrats would like you to believe it is only a reconciliation bill. This is vital to them because a reconciliation bill only takes 50 senators and the vice president to pass the U.S. Senate.

However, this additional $3.5 trillion comes after trillions of emergency spending prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Consider what the Congressional Budget Office has written about the fiscal situation before the $1.1 trillion and $3.5 trillion bills are passed:

6 Troubling Leftist Wins in $1.1 Trillion Infrastructure Bill

:snip:

1. Tees Up Partisan $3.5 Trillion Social Spending Package

Leading Democrats have vowed that the infrastructure bill will not become law unless it’s paired with a $3.5 trillion package passed on party lines through the budget rule known as reconciliation.

The Senate will work on a budget resolution this week with detailed instructions for a variety of key committees. Its publicly stated goals read like a progressive wish list: a generational welfare expansion, job-killing tax hikes, an aggressive climate agenda, an attempt to give amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, and more.

Finalizing the infrastructure bill only serves to speed up the largest tax-and-spend measure in history.

2. Republican Support of Bigger Deficits Just Before Debt Limit Fight

The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that the bill would increase deficits by $256 billion. This is actually generous, since that doesn’t count a $118 billion bailout of the Highway Trust Fund.

That means the bill would actually add at least $2,900 per household to the national debt. Considering that the debt is already more than $220,000 per household and rising, this is a perfect example of financial irresponsibility from our national leaders.:snip:
