Becerra on Door-to-Door Vaccination Effort: ‘Absolutely the Government’s Business’ to Know Who Has Been Vaccinated

Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra on Thursday addressed the pushback in response to the White House’s door-to-door vaccination effort to encourage people to get vaccinated.

CNN “New Day” host Brianna Keilar asked Becerra about criticism the announcement received, saying it isn’t the government’s business knowing who and who has not been vaccinated.

Becerra said it is “absolutely” the government’s business to know such information, reasoning that the government “has spent trillions of dollars” to protect Americans.

The Idea that the Federal Government knows if you have been vaccinated should scare the hell out of you. That is Way Too Much Information! I have no problem with getting this vaccination, but when The Government comes to my door telling me I have to....Words are spoken. Harsh 4 letter words and at a high volume.

CNN medical analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner said Thursday on “OutFront” that he thought it was “time to start mandating” people to get the coronavirus vaccine.

Burnett said, “You know, Dr. Reiner, when you look at this in the broader context, there’s still a third of the eligible population in the United States that hasn’t got a single dose. The Biden Administration says it’s not their role to mandate get people vaccinated. Instead, they said this.”

Sebelius: Unvaccinated Americans Should Not Be Allowed to Work, Have Access to Children

Former Obama administration Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Tuesday on CNN’s “OutFront” that Americans who have not received a coronavirus vaccine should not be allowed to work or have access to children and be limited on where they are allowed to go.

Sebelius said, “We’re in a situation where we have a wildly effective vaccine, multiple choices, lots available, free of charge, and we have folks who are just saying I won’t do it. I think that it’s time to say to those folks, it’s fine if you don’t choose to get vaccinated. You may not come to work. You may not have access to a situation where you’re going to put my grandchildren in jeopardy. Where you might kill them, or you might put them in a situation where they’re going to carry the virus to someone in a high-risk position.”
