:snip:In what should be the political equivalent of the canary in the coal mine for Democrats, Mr. Lee blamed the party’s leftward lurch for his departure. But the Nevada mayor had far more reason ideologically than Reagan ever had to jump ship on the Democratic Party, which today is light years to the left of where it was in 1962.

The last straw, he said, was the state party’s takeover by what he called avowed socialists. Nevada Democrats “had an election for leadership, and four of the five people were card-carrying members of the Socialist Party,” Mr. Lee said in an April 6 Fox News Channel interview.

“It’s not the party I grew up with 25 years ago in this environment, and it’s not the party I can stand with anymore,” Mr. Lee said.:snip:

Some quick thoughts

1. "“It’s not the party I grew up with 25 years ago in this environment, and it’s not the party I can stand with anymore,” Mr. Lee said."

Translation: I really want to be reelected and maybe go to Congress. Vote for Me!

2. That this (the Leftward Leap) should be obvious to anyone who follows the history of the Democratic Party. At the end of WWII they purged many of the Hard Left. Starting in the early 1970's with the disaster of the McGovern campaign, and the end of the Vietnam war, the Hard Left put on a suit and tie.dressed up and made a comeback. Both parties have both Left & Right. The Thing is the Democrats have gone Much farther Left than the Republicans have moved Right.

Google: Waterfall of polarization Left vs right voting ideology

3. In the 2022/2024 elections, if the Democrats get their asses handed to them (Please God) we will see a move back toward the Center. Reason being they want to get elected. This is the purpose of political Parties, Get people elected to office. It should go without saying the Democratic Party WILL cheat/or try their darnedest to. The question is will they be successful?
