Abe Lincoln's Pecan Pie

1 9 inch pie shell
1 1/2 cups broken pecan meats
1 cup dark corn syrup
1/2 cup butter, softened
3 large eggs, stirred
1 teaspoon vanilla

Cream the butter and sugar. Stir in the dark corn syrup and the lightly beaten eggs. Add the pecans and the vanilla. Blend together well and pour into pie shell. (May put foil in shell and fill with dried beans, baking 5 to 7 minutes at 400 degrees if desired, before adding filing). Bake pie at 400 degrees 45 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted in filling comes out clean.
