At least seven of the key figures Joe Biden has tapped for his likely (though still contested) incoming administration worked as paid staff for NBC News, MSNBC, and CNN.

 

Five of these figures worked for NBC News and/or MSNBC.

Biden tapped Barbara McQuade, a former U.S. attorney in Michigan (appointed by former President Barack Obama) and legal analyst on NBC News and MSNBC, to serve on the Department of Justice review team for the Biden-Harris transition.

Richard Stengel, Obama’s under secretary of State for public diplomacy and public affairs from 2014 to 2016 and now an NBC News and MSNBC political analyst, joined the Biden transition as “Team Lead” for the U.S. Agency for Global Media.:snip:

Biden leans on foreign policy establishment to build team

President-elect Joe Biden is turning to a coterie of longtime advisers with decades of experience in Washington’s foreign policy establishment to build out his national security team.

 

Biden on Monday tapped his closest foreign policy adviser AnTony Blinken for secretary of State. He also named Jake Sullivan as national security adviser and Linda Thomas-Greenfield, a career diplomat, as ambassador to the United Nations. Alejandro Mayorka, a former deputy Homeland Security secretary, is Biden’s pick for the top job at that department, while Avril Haines, a former deputy CIA director, will be nominated as Director of National Intelligence.

 

John Kerry, a former senator who served as secretary of State under President Barack Obama, will be Biden’s international climate envoy.:snip:

What was Joe Biden thinking for his choice of climate-change ambassador extraordinaire? John Kerry is one of the biggest gasbags in American politics, singlehandedly responsible for massive amounts of terrible emissions.

People have been laughing at him since Yale, when Doonesbury creator Garry Trudeau was zinging his pretentious, vacuous self-promotion.

We look forward to the anti-carbon lectures from a guy who travels the globe on private jets and luxury yachts.

Set aside his deer-in-the-headlights loss as Democrats’ presidential nominee in 2004. He was a joke as secretary of state under President Barack Obama — off on his yacht during Egypt’s 2013 military coup.

He vowed a crushing response when Syria crossed Obama’s infamous “red line” — only to have Obama pull the rug out from under him and agree to let Russia pretend to take Syria’s chemical weapons away instead.

Kerry also cluelessly “negotiated” the Iran nuclear deal even as the real talks were being run out of the White House; then he had to pretend to cheer an accord that gave away several points he’d said were non-negotiable, such as truly tough inspection requirements.:snip:

Biden DHS choice steered DACA into existence

 

President-elect Joe Biden’s pick to lead the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, is best known for overseeing the implementation of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals during his time in the Obama administration.

Mayorkas, 61, was described by a former DHS official as a “centrist,” but compared to the Trump White House’s immigration policies, Mayorkas’s strategies have sided with immigrants of various backgrounds, while President Trump's policies have clenched down against many forms of legal and illegal immigration.

Mayorkas was tasked with carrying out the executive branch's DACA memo within 60 days so that illegal immigrants who were brought to the United States as children could apply for two-year reprieves from deportation and receive the ability to work in the country. More than 800,000 recipients have flowed through the program since its 2012 inception.:snip:

Biden Taps Architect Of ‘Children In Cages’ To Lead Homeland Security

Remember when leftists pretended that they cared about migrant children being put into cages? It was one of their favorite attacks on the Trump administration’s efforts to curb illegal immigration. 

But apparently, they were just kidding about the whole “we’re mad about kids being locked in cages” thing. Of course, we already knew their outrage was fake when most on the left refused to condemn the Obama administration for pioneering the practice. However, Biden’s pick to lead the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) should elicit outrage from progressives who complained about the kids in cages. 

Former vice president Joe Biden is tapping Alejandro Mayorkas to head DHS, which would mean he would be in charge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, among other agencies. But Mayorkas, an immigrant from Cuba, has a history that should be troubling for the open borders crowd. The Washington Times reported that “Mr. Mayorkas also was part of Homeland Security’s response to the Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) surge from 2014 and the subsequent family surge.”:snip:

Joe Biden is reviving all of his past failures — and it won’t stop: Goodwin

Psst, an occasionally reliable source tells me Joe Biden has settled on a motto for his administration. It’s going to be “The Way We Were.”

Just before he announced the first members of his team, the next president was heard singing in his Delaware basement,

“Memories light the corners of my mind,

“Misty water-colored memories of the way we were.”

My source claims Biden wanted Perry Como to sing the song at the inauguration. Informed that Como died nearly 20 years ago, Biden agreed to let a fresh face, Barbra Streisand, give it a try.

The next president turned 78 last Friday and his first selections reveal he’s got a bad case of nostalgia. Less kindly, he’s stuck in the past.:snip:

Biden Labor Candidate Oversaw Fraudulent Payments to California Prison Inmates

A frontrunner to be president-elect Joe Biden's labor secretary oversaw the payment of nearly $1 billion in fraudulent benefits to California prison inmates.

Julie Su is the secretary of California's Labor and Workforce Development Agency, which operates the state's pandemic unemployment system. The system paid out hundreds of millions of dollars in fraudulent unemployment payments to prison inmates and convicts, prosecutors announced on Tuesday.

The fraud involved over 35,000 unemployment claims filed between March and August under the names of California state prison inmates. The inmates included two serial killers responsible for the deaths of at least eight people, as well as the well-known murderer Scott Peterson, who was convicted in 2004 for killing his pregnant wife. The Sacramento County district attorney called the scandal "one of the biggest fraud of taxpayer dollars in California history.:snip:
