he CEO’s of Facebook, Twitter and Google are testifying Wednesday before the Senate Commerce Committee on the growing concerns about censorship by their social media sites.

Washington lawmakers, President Trump and others have focused in a part of federal communications law, known as Section 230, that protected such companies against liability for third-party content posted on their sites.

The big tech leaders have put measures in the place to try to keep disinformation off of their social media sites, which has raised concerns among Americans, particularly conservatives, about whether such efforts have resulted in censorship.

In their opening statements, the three CEO's defended Section 230 and claimed it is necessary to the internet. Twitter's Jack Dorsey said it's the most important law regarding internet speech.

Zuckerberg 'not aware' that Facebook election integrity official worked for Biden

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that he was "not aware" that a Facebook election integrity official used to work as a policy adviser to former Vice President Joe Biden during the Senate Commerce Committee's Section 230 hearing on Wednesday.

"My understanding is that the person that is in charge of election integrity and security at Facebook is a former Joe Biden staffer, is there someone closely associated with President Trump in the same role at Facebook?" Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., asked the CEOs. "How do you all respond to that argument that there isn't sufficient balance in terms of the political ideology or diversity in your companies, and how do you deal with the lack of trust that creates among conservatives?":snip:

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey falsely tells senators company lifted ban on Post exposé

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on Wednesday falsely told senators that his company lifted a ban on users tweeting articles from The Post’s Hunter Biden exposé, despite the fact that the ban remained on one of The Post’s bombshell stories and was only lifted after he made the claim.

“Anyone can tweet these articles,” Dorsey told Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) about The Post’s articles on emails implicating Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in his son’s work in China and Ukraine.

But Twitter users quickly noted that the social network still banned distribution of The Post’s article describing a business proposal in China involving Hunter Biden and a document indicating a 10 percent set-aside for “the big guy.”:snip:

The Post Millennial

Sen. Ted Cruz grilled Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey today on their censoring and suppressing the New York Post's reporting on Hunter Biden's alleged influence peddling.

"Mr. Dorsey, who the hell elected you and put you in charge of what the media are allowed to report and what the American people are allowed to hear? And why do you persist in behaving as a Democratic superpac, silencing views to the contrary of your political beliefs?" Cruz asked.

Cruz asked why the Post was still locked out of their account, and Dorsey said that the Post, a 200 year old outlet with the 4th largest circulation in the country, could have their account back if they delete their original posts sharing their stories.

Dorsey said that the reason the Post's stories were suppressed was because Twitter didn't know where the information the Post reported came from. He said that they had included screenshots, which, if they came from a hacked source, would be against the terms of service.

"We found that the New York Post, because it showed the direct materials, screen shots of the direct materials, it was unclear how those were obtained. That it fell under this policy," Dorsey said.

Cruz pointed out that the Post had detailed, as part of their reporting, exactly how they came to obtain the information they had reported. "Is it your position that Twitter, when you can't tell the source, blocks press stories?"

"No, not at all," Dorsey said. He said that they changed their policy, after realizing that it was not an effective policy that resulted in the Post's banning from the platform.

"We realized we need to earn trust more," Dorsey said, noting that they had changed their terms of service within 24 hours of the Post suppression.

Cruz tried to find out why Twitter didn't block The New York Times reporting of images and information President Trump's tax returns, when there was no reason to believe that the information contained in that reporting wasn't illegally obtained.

Dorsey had said earlier, via his own platform, that he was acting in "good faith." Cruz said that he believed Dorsey's assertions as to why they blocked the Post to be dubious.

What Crenshaw Realized About the Democratic Party After Big Tech Hearing That 'Should Terrify Americans'

Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw had two takeaways after watching the Senate Commerce Committee hearing on Wednesday with the CEOs of Twitter, Facebook ,and Alphabet, Google's parent company.

The first was that Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey “is a partisan and a hypocrite” and the second was an observation made about the Senate Democrats present for the hearing.

“Not a single Democrat Senator defended free speech or freedom of the press today,” the Texas Republican noticed. “This should terrify Americans.”:snip:

 2) There are no liberals left in the Democrat Party. Not a single Democrat Senator defended free speech or freedom of the press today,” the Texas Republican noticed. “This should terrify Americans.”:snip:

Oh They are still there. They are just terrified of the Woke/Progressive/Intersectionality wing of the party.

The Republican Party has moved 1-2 feet to the Right. The Democratic Party 2-3 Yards to the Left. Ideas that were Not That Long Ago were part of the lunatic fringe on the Left, are now Democrat orthodoxy.
