The popular social media platform Twitter deleted more than 10,000 accounts in order to keep them from unfairly affecting the election – at the behest of the Democratic party.

An “early win” for Democrats

Twitter indicates that the accounts were trying to persuade voters to stay home on election day, which would suppress the vote for the pivotal midterm elections on Tuesday.

But the way they chose these accounts was by referral from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, a group supporting campaigns of Democrats to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Reuters even characterized it is an “early win” for the partisan group.

Without citing one example, it was reported that the 10,000 Twitter accounts were posting messages to men who would likely vote Democrat, discouraging them from “drowning out” the women’s vote.

According to Reuters, Twitter depended on accounts being identified by tools created by the partisan Democratic group.

There was no indication that the Republican party was given the same consideration as Democrats were in choosing Twitter accounts to be deleted from the social media platform.

________

Voter suppression, Twitter style?
