WestVirginiaRebel
The Blaze 45-year-old “political guru” Ravneet Singh was sentenced by a judge in Southern California for helping a billionaire funnel hundreds of thousands of dollars to the campaign coffers of a Democrat candidate who went on to win his election. The sentencing was the latest in the case involving 51-year-old Jose Susumo Azano Matsura of Guadalajara, Mexico, who was convicted of campaign finance violations among 30 charges in 2016. Azano solicited the help of his son and other associations to funnel donations to help Bob Filner win the mayoral election in San Diego, California. Law enforcement officials say wanted to build condos and a high-end hotel in the city, and wanted to purchase political influence to help him do it. Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Schopler charged that Azano ran a classic “straw donor” operation where his money was funneled through legal donors in order to get around campaign finance laws forbidding foreign campaign donations. Azano’s son and other associates were also convicted of violating election laws. Singh, the former CEO of ElectionMall Technologies, will serve 15 months in jail and pay a $10,000 fine. Although Filner went on to win the election, he resigned within nine months after a salacious sexual harassment scandal. ________ Funny foreign money.
