Tear Down That Statue Week at Legal Insurrection

Posted by Mary Chastain    Sunday, August 20, 2017 at 8:30am

Racism everywhere….

The protest in Charlottesville, VA, had this week filled with news of people all of a sudden wanting to tear down Confederate statues, which evolved to changing names and even demands targeting our founders.

Trump released one statement. Then he held a press conference, which supposedly went off script and the media twisted his words. Kemberlee had to set people straight.

The Silliest Generation

By Victor Davis Hanson| August 21, 2017

Every generation, in its modesty, used to think the prior one was far better. Tom Brokaw coined “The Greatest Generation” to remind Americans of what our fathers endured during the Depression and World War II—with the implicit message that we might not have been able to do what they did.

For the Roman poet Horace to be a laudator temporis acti (“a praiser of a past age”) was a natural if sometimes tiring inclination. His famous lines at the end of his Ode 3.6 on moral degeneracy run, “Worse than our grandparents’ generation, our parents’ then produced us, even worse, and soon to bear still more sinful children”—and managed in just a few words to fault four generations for continual moral decline.

Yet what is strange about the present age is that our current generation uniquely believes just the opposite. Apparently, we believe that most cadres before us were not up to our standards. Indeed, we are having to clean up their messes of racism, sexism, homophobia, nativism, xenophobia, and Islamophobia, as well as environmental desecration and global warming.       :snip:            https://amgreatness.com/2017/08/21/the-silliest-generation/

Vandals Are Destroying Monuments Because They’ve Been Taught To Hate America

It appears Islamists have something in common with statue vandals besides an ideology that justifies political violence and a rabid hatred of free expression: the desecration of historic monuments.

By Joy Pullmann AUGUST 22, 2017

In the wake of the Charlottesville riots ostensibly triggered by the removal of a statue memorializing Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, a rash of vandalism against historical American figures has hit the country. Monday, someone took a sledgehammer to a 200-year-old Christopher Columbus monument in Baltimore. :snip: http://thefederalist.com/2017/08/22/vandals-destroying-monuments-theyve-taught-hate-america/

Most Americans Reject Leftists’ Assault on Columbus Day

Liberals carry on legacy of anti-Catholic bigotry by targeting famed explorer; Antifa demands vandalism

by Jim Stinson | Updated 06 Oct 2017 at 7:13 AM

Although 57 percent of Americans believe in celebrating Columbus Day, the late explorer Christopher Columbus is in the crosshairs of liberals again, more than 511 years after he died.

Among those targeting the late, great Italian navigator are Antifa and left-wing intellectuals, as well as the liberal governments of several U.S. cities who no longer acknowledge Columbus on his holiday, which is this coming Monday.

The violent partisans at Antifa have named Monday "Deface Columbus Day," hoping to see acts of vandalism against Columbus statues.   .:snip: http://www.lifezette.com/polizette/long-dead-columbus-under-attack-by-left/
