Acclaimed author Paul Sperry writes in the New York Post:

 

Obama has an army of agitators — numbering more than 30,000 — who will fight his Republican successor at every turn of his historic presidency. And Obama will command them from a bunker less than two miles from the White House.

 

In what’s shaping up to be a highly unusual post-presidency, Obama isn’t just staying behind in Washington. He’s working behind the scenes to set up what will effectively be a shadow government to not only protect his threatened legacy, but to sabotage the incoming administration and its popular “America First” agenda.

Obama’s Shadow Government Is Organizing To Undermine Trump

 

 

The leaks that led to Michael Flynn’s resignation are just the beginning. Obama and his loyalists in and outside government are working to undermine Trump.

 

Once out of office, ex-presidents usually fade into private life and stay out of politics. They write memoirs, serve on corporate boards, and start charitable foundations. George W. Bush retired to his ranch in Texas and, most recently, painted portraits of veterans wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bill Clinton was briefly thrust back into politics during Hillary’s two failed presidential campaigns, but most of his post-White House career consisted of flying around the world raising boatloads of money for his family’s now-defunct charity.

 

There are exceptions, of course. Jimmy Carter threw himself into international diplomacy, mediating an agreement in 1994 to return exiled President Jean-Bertrand Aristide to power in Haiti, and generally agitating for a Palestinian state.

 

Then there is Obama. Less than a month out of office, the broad contours of Obama’s post-presidency career are already taking shape. Obama and his loyalists, it seems, will remain in the center of the political fray, officially and unofficially, in an organized effort to undermine the Trump administration.

The bizarre scandal now unfolding over the resignation of national security advisor Michael Flynn is a case in point. Flynn’s resignation was prompted by a series of coordinated and anonymous leaks from current and former Obama administration officials in our domestic intelligence agencies.

Regardless of any valid criticism of Flynn, the leaks are part of a larger, loosely organized effort now underway to preserve Obama’s legacy. This effort involves Obama-era officials still inside the federal government, former Obama staffers working in the private sector, and Obama himself.

President Trump’s nomination choice for labor secretary, Andy Puzder, has just dropped out of contention and it appears that an old Oprah Winfrey interview has everything to do with it.

 

Winfrey’s interview with “Ann,” whom she claimed is Puzder’s ex-wife, Lisa Fierstein, divorced the CEO of CKE Restaurants back in 1987. The 1990 interview was part of a show she did on “High Class Battered Women.”

 

 

Deadline Hollywood reports that Winfrey turned the five-minute interview over to the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, where news of it quickly sunk support for his nomination.

 

All of the Democrats had already arrayed against his nomination, and with four Republicans who were waffling on their support, his labor secretary nomination was done.

 

Puzder was due to begin his confirmation hearings Thursday, but NBC reports that he canceled his prep meetings for them.

 

Among the allegations, Fierstein claimed he hit her in places where it wouldn’t show and maintained she still had injuries years later:

 

“Most men who are in positions like that don't leave marks. The damage that I sustained you can't see. It's permanent. ... They don't hit you in the face. They're too smart. They don't hit you in front of everyone.”

 

Fierstein told Oprah that she had called the cops on Puzder and he verbally threatened her: “I will see you in the gutter. This will never be over. You will pay for this.”

 

However, eight months after the Oprah interview, Fierstein recanted her story.

 

Politico first reported on the tape’s existence last month. Winfrey turned it over to the committee at their request.

 

She said in the interview that he left her with “nothing”:

 

“I wound up losing everything, everything. I have nothing. He has a Porsche and a Mercedes-Benz. He has the home. He has everything. He was an attorney, and he knew how to play the system.”
