I’m getting old and nod off more frequently during the day. Lately, I’ve been waking up with one question on my mind, “Hey, what year is this?” No, not day – but year. Because I’m never quite sure based on the coverage of the current POTUS.

 

Listening to the commentariat (on both the Left and the Right) it is either 1860, 1930, 1933, 1938, 1954 or 1967. Yesterday, we were knee-deep in 1939. Every commercial airliner coming into American airspace from a foreign country was named the M.S. St. Louis and was the Voyage of the Damned.

 

Suddenly Donald Trump was Franklin Roosevelt and Muslims were the new Jews. Now that’s surprising on several levels. First, how can Trump be FDR when just last week he was so busy being Hitler? Secondly, considering the general anti-Semitic world view of political Islam, it’s hard to view them as “the new Jews.”

 

As protests ramped up last night, the Speed Dial Mob at one of the New York airports was chanting “Hey, hey, ho, ho, Donald Trump has got to go!” And in an instant Trump morphed from FDR to Lyndon Johnson. Goodbye 1939 and hello 1967.
