Draggingtree
Texas Tribune: Perry Campaign Went Broke. His Campaign Manager? Not So Much by Alec Goodwin, Center for Responsive Politics July 14, 2016 Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry infamously dropped out of the presidential race because his campaign ran out of money. But Jeff Miller, who headed up both his presidential campaign and his leadership PAC, took home nearly half the funds collected by those organizations, or $1.35 million. Miller served as both Perry’s campaign manager and director of Perry’s leadership PAC, RickPAC. He was California campaign chair for Perry’s 2012 bid. Miller snagged $629,000 of $1.43 million the campaign raised from the time Perry announced his candidacy in June to his departure from the contest in September — a period of just over three months. That’s 44 percent of the campaign’s meager funds. And Miller was paid even more by Perry’s leadership PAC. He raked in $720,000 from Rick PAC from March to June, or 65 percent of the $1.1 million the group raised in that time.
