Valin
Hugh Hewitt Blog: John Schroeder March 4, 2016 For the last 24 hours the media has been filled with stories of the not-entirely-civil war inside the Republican party. It is obviously real and the stakes are pretty doggone high. And that is quite irksome, because it means Obama wins. The equation is pretty simple really. Obama refuses to engage. There is no debate, no discussion, no participation in the very process that the country is built on. He just will not engage. He’ll pay lip service to it, he’ll put on a show of it, but actually do it? Not in the cards. So the question becomes, “How do we respond?” It is the answer to that question that defines the fault line in the Republican party. On the one side of the line we have the people that are infuriated by Obama’s tactics. They don’t have a way to get something done, or even to get his engagement, but they are so infuriated that they want to see some explosions – big ones. Frankly I cannot blame them. I have had the deep misfortune of a close personal relationship with someone that takes the same approach as Obama. It is almost unbearably frustrating. On the other side of the line are the people that look at Obama, sigh, and say “hold on, this too shall pass.” Bear in mind neither side has a way to get stuff done, it is just a question of temperament when faced with the immovable force. This is the thing, scripture counsels us to patience. Eccl 7:8 The end of a matter is better than its beginning; Patience of spirit is better than haughtiness of spirit. (Snip) The Republican party seems to need some serious retooling. Fair enough. But we have got to let that happen in its own time; we have got to be patient with that process. Blowing it up, because I’m so angry something just has to blow up, is in reality suicide. Suicide means Obama wins – and that really ticks me off.
