Trump Threatens To Make It Easier To Sue Newspapers

Donald Trump promised to push to change libel law so he can more easily sue newspapers over “purposely negative and horrible and false” articles about him.

“The New York Times, which is losing a fortune, which is a failing newspaper, which probably won’t be around that much longer … I think the New York Times is one of the most dishonest media outlets I have seen in my life. The worst, the worst, the absolute worst. They have an agenda you absolutely wouldn’t believe,” Trump said during a rollicking rally in Forth Worth, Texas Friday.

He continued, “Washington Post, I have to tell you — I have respect for Jeff Bezos. But he bought The Washington Post to have political influence. And I gotta tell you, we have a different country than we used to have. He owns Amazon, he wants political influence so that Amazon will benefit from it, and believe me if I become president — oh, do they have problems. They’re going to have such problems.”

“And one of the things I’m going to do, and this is only going to make it tougher for me and I’ve never said this before. But one of the things I’m going to do, if I win, and I hope I do and we’re certainly leading — is I’m going to open up our libel laws so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false article we can sue them and win lots of money,” said the New York real estate developer.

Not sure how you prove liability against a free press, bad as they may be. Let them implode on their own.

Not that the majority of the news pundits and writers are on our side. In fact quite the opposite but - Threatening easier suits like this is another stab at "freedom of the press" imo.

I think we can all agree the Republican frontrunner is a mere reflection of the people who are voting for him. Ditto the current two-term President, who has had free-reign to set the U.S.A. on the destructive path of Cuba & Venezuela.

Conclusion: Since 2008, We The People have exchanged reasonable thinking for the cheap thrill of an emotional tingle running up our leg.

"Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned," spoken by Zara in Act III, Scene VIII, in William Congreve's "The Mourning Bride."

William Congreve never met the PLb brain trust.

Where was this kind of animus for Barack Obama in 2012?

I have a question for Jim Speers. Are you normally this stupid or are you making a special effort today?
