Valin
The Week in Pictures: Feminist Meltdown Edition Steven Hayward February 13, 2016 The Clintons’ sense of entitlement is of a piece of the entire boomer-generation liberalism that expects because they made the sixties man! that they should be placed on a pedestal forever. So it was schadenfreudetastic to watch old feminists like Gloria Steinem proves that today’s young women need a feminist like a fish needs a bicycle. Meanwhile, Bernie keeps chugging that old socialist moonshine The up-to-date faces of Democratic Party feminism. SrWoodchuck
Obama Resigns From Presidency After Michelle Lands Dream Job In Seattle! http://www.theonion.com/article/obama-resigns-presidency-after-michelle-lands-drea-52338 (Beautiful Picture of Oblunder Going Away) WASHINGTON—Saying his wife of 24 years had already sacrificed so much for the sake of his career and that it was time to return the favor, Barack Obama announced Wednesday his resignation as president of the United States of America, effective immediately, following news that Michelle Obama had landed her dream job in Seattle. “For years, Michelle has placed her ambitions and aspirations on the back burner so I could pursue my own, and now it’s my turn to put her first,” the former president said during his final press conference in the White House, later stating that he was excited for this “next chapter for the Obama family” and expressing immense pride in his wife for having secured a partner-track position at prestigious environmental law firm the Cascadia Group. “Of course, it will be hard for me to leave my work, but this is what partners in a marriage do: They support each other and treat one another as equals. If giving up my job as commander-in-chief and moving the family out to Seattle makes her happy, then I’m glad to do it—I love you, Michelle.” When asked how he would keep himself busy in the Pacific Northwest, Obama replied that his main focus would be getting his daughters, Sasha and Malia, settled into the family’s new arrangement before possibly running for mayor of Tacoma. SrWoodchuck
Jeb Bush Assures Pipe-Wielding Thugs He’ll Have The Delegates He Promised Them By Next Week http://www.theonion.com/article/jeb-bush-assures-pipe-wielding-thugs-hell-have-del-52344 CHARLESTON, SC—Pleading for more time as the group of men advanced on him in a Charleston alleyway, GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush assured a gang of pipe-wielding thugs Thursday that he would have the delegates he had promised them by next week, sources reported. “Whoa, whoa, easy, fellas. I know I’m late on this, but I’ll have everything you need after next weekend, I swear,” said the former Florida governor, begging the dark-clad men not to break his kneecaps for failing to place in the top five in a recent Rasmussen Reports nationwide poll of Republican voters. “I’ve only got the three delegates right now, but you know I’m good for the rest of it. My luck’s starting to turn around, I can feel it. I came real close to third place in New Hampshire, so things are starting to break my way. Please, just give me until the 20th and I swear I’ll make this right.” At press time, Bush was reportedly trying to conceal his freshly bandaged thumbs while greeting supporters at a rally in Columbia. ********************************************************************************** Those establishment Republicans play for keeps! Valin
The Week in Pictures: Scalia Awesomeness Edition Steven Hayward February 20, 2016 The picture of the week—maybe the picture of the year—is the first one here, of Justice Scalia’s clerks lined up as an honor guard at the Supreme Court yesterday. Has any other Justice in the history of the Court received such devotion from his ranks of clerks? Maybe, but I’m not aware of it. Do you think Justice Breyer, or Justice Kagan, or Justice Kennedy, or anyone else on the Court today would inspire this kind of deep act of respect? (Yes—Clarence Thomas will some day, for the same reason.) Now back to the election. pollyannaish
I just saw that Jeb suspended his campaign. Now I don't want Jeb to be the nominee. I adore his brother. I respect his father. I love his mother. But the time has passed and I appreciate the family's service. But the horrific vitriol from Trump supporters on the Fox Nees announcement left me reeling. These are not people who want the best for our country. These are people who are intent on "teaching everyone who doesn't think they are the most intelligent people ever and should be the leader of the world because they could fix every problem without breaking a sweat" a severe and horrific lesson. They have become the ugliness I hated about those from the DU. I don't like it and I do not want to be associated with it in any way. I find myself an American who feels both parties are inhospitable, represent the worst of America and leave a very bitter taste in my mouth.
pollyannaish
Actually, I think what really toasts my giblets is the stunning realization that the man we all adore, Ronald Reagan could not even make it through the primaries in this climate, let alone govern effectively. The volume of the rancor is just too high.
