Draggingtree
: Eisenhower: Illegals – TENS OF THOUSANDS Sent Deep Into Mexico On Two Shipsby • September 18, 2015 • 2 Comments In 2007, four months after my first blog post, I wrote about President Dwight Eisenhower putting the finger on “unethical government officials…” who allowed illegals to enter the country, and stay, as a favor to ranchers and others who wanted low-wage workers. According to Eisenhower’s first attorney general, Herbert Brownell Jr., Ike was disturbed by the ONE MILLION coming into this country, unchecked, every year. The short story is that he sent them deep into the heart of Mexico on buses, trains and ships. On two ships alone, the Emancipation and the Mercurio, illegals were shipped from Port Isabel, Texas 500 miles south to Vera Cruz, Mexico. That’s exclusive of the “tens of thousands” sent home by bus and train. See below the four points that were not a reality during Eisenhower’s time. In correspondence between Eisenhower and Senator William Fullbright (D-AR), Eisenhower quoted a New York Times article: The rise in illegal border-crossing by Mexican(s) to a current rate of more than 1,000,000 cases a year has been accompanied by a curious relaxation in ethical standards extending all the way from the farmer-exploiters of this contraband labor to the highest levels of the Federal Government.
