Geee Posted September 16, 2015 Share Posted September 16, 2015 Washingrton Times: The chief of the U.S. military campaign against the Islamic State said there are just “four or five” U.S.-trained rebel fighters on the ground in Syria right now — far less than the goal of 3,000 President Obama’s strategy had called for in the first year. “The new Syrian force program has gotten off to a slow start,” Army Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III told the Senate Armed Services Committee, though he said the fighters were always meant to be a “complement” to the airstrike campaign the U.S. is leading with an international coalition, and to other indigenous forces already fighting.
