Geee
: No words can do justice to the memory of the 2,988 people who died on September 11, 2001, including eleven unborn children and the citizens of over 90 countries. On this day especially, we pray for the safety of our nation’s first responders, who carry on the legacy of service exemplified by those who gave their lives to save others. And we salute those sons and daughters of America who volunteered to don the uniform of our country, to ensure that something like 9/11 could never happen again. In the years since 9/11, we have asked much of those who have served our country. I’d like to share with you one such story of sacrifice, the story of Marc Alan Lee. Marc had dreams of becoming a professional soccer player. In 1997, he was scheduled to try out for Colorado’s major-league team, the Colorado Rapids. But Marc blew out his knee. So instead he decided to major in Bible and theology at The Master’s College in California. In 2001, Marc joined the Navy and earned a spot with the SEALs. On August 2, 2006, Marc was killed in Ramadi, Iraq. Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, the center of Sunni Iraq, had been home to many senior officials in Saddam Hussein’s government — especially senior military officials. By 2006, after the American-led coalition reclaimed Fallujah, Ramadi had become the center of the Sunni terrorist insurgency. Our generals knew that if we could clear Ramadi of insurgents, we would be on our way to defeating al-Qaeda in Iraq.
Geee
@Valin Rick Perry is in the process of giving a very good speech to the Eagle Forum right now. He's still speaking so there probably is no link yet. I would find it myself later, but as you have probably guessed by now, I am not good at posting videos Edited to add: Oh darn!!! He's dropping out!!!!!!! And such a great speech!!!! He is a good good man, but it was not his time, I guess.

Geee
@Valin I was listening to the speech and thinking it was the best speech I've heard him give - even better than his kick off speech - and then he says he's suspending his campaign It was not unexpected but I thought he would at least stick it out for the next debate. Maybe because he did not make the main debate, he figured he couldn't get any traction anyway and he was bleeding money.
Valin
@Geee I thought (hoped) he would to. Did you catch the subtle digs at a certain other candidate?...well maybe not so subtle, if I caught em.
Geee
Adieu to Rick PerryAdieu to Rick Perry It would be an exaggeration for me to say Rick Perry is my friend, but I can say we are friendly acquaintances. I liked him and I have reason to believe he liked me from the first time we met, when he invited me, the late Andrew Breitbart and others to go shooting with him in Austin back in 2009. (Yes, Perry was one of the first major politicians into new media.) Later, I joined him at the NASCAR races at the Texas Motor Speedway, which was rather like going to the Grand Ole Opry with Johnny Cash. By this time I was convinced I was hanging out with the next president of the United States. A lot of us were. But we all know how his front-running campaign imploded in 2012 in the famous “Oops” moment. No longer governor of Texas, Perry spent the next few years doing his homework, boning up on affairs foreign and domestic that would make him a serious contender in 2016. Obviously, it wasn’t enough and Rick Perry is the first to bow out of the seventeen-candidate Republican presidential field. He did so in characteristically gracious fashion, saying: “We have a tremendous field—the best in a generation—so I step aside knowing our party is in good hands.” One wonders how the other participants in next Wednesday’s also-ran debate — Graham, Pataki, Santorum and Jindal — will react to Perry’s words and action. Will this pressure them to step down too? But more importantly, it makes me think about how our presidential election system actually works. Does it get us the best man or woman? Does it even come close? It’s not only because I know Rick Perry that I suspect he might have made one of the better — perhaps even the best — presidents of all those running in both parties. Of course, no one could possibly know the truth about these things. No one. All we have is our guesses. But it is clear that in this year of the non-pro, voters were not excited by the record of a man who was governor of one of our largest states for fourteen years, a period during which that one state, Texas, generated more than a third of the nation’s private-sector jobs. Maybe that says more about us than it does about Rick Perry. http://pjmedia.com/diaryofamadvoter/2015/09/12/adieu-to-rick-perry/
Valin
Adieu to Rick PerryAdieu to Rick Perry I don't know why I do this...it just ticks me off...big time....From The Vox Populi Mark v Simon never met a faux- conservative he didn't like, just like he never met a genuine conservative he DOES like. Comments like this always remind me why The Framers distrusted The Mob.
