volkerwanderung-europe-refugeesRedState: The word of the day is ‘Völkerwanderung.’

By: Moe Lane (Diary) | September 4th, 2015 at 12:00 PM

German word, obviously: Völkerwanderungmore or less means ‘folk migration.’ Admittedly, Iron Age European history is a little outside of my patch, but I do seem to recall that the Roman Empire (and later, its successor states*) had to deal with lots of people moving to where there wasn’t a war. Or at least to where the people moving could wina war.

I mention this because… well.

The European Union’s sharpening divisions over a spiraling refugee crisis broke into the open Thursday with two leaders strongly disagreeing in public over whether the asylum-seekers were threatening “Europe’s Christian roots.” Scissors-32x32.png

What Will They Vote Themselves?

Noah Rothman | @noahcrothman09.05.2015 - 9:00 AM

There seemed no end to the teeming tide of Irish that washed ashore in New York City when the famine compelled a mass exodus out of the isle. By the early 1850s, the city and the country faced its first immigration crisis. At a time in which there were no social services – indeed, the very concept of a social safety net did not yet exist – the first wave of unskilled, unlearned Irish immigrants soon became a plague upon the city’s slums. “You have no idea what an immense vat of misery and crime and filth this great city is,” wrote the Protestant missionary and philanthropist Charles Loring Brace. “Think of ten thousand children growing up almost sure to be prostitutes and rogues.” Scissors-32x32.png

Today, a new generation of children is in jeopardy, and the future they will inherit is in peril. “An estimated 13.7 million school age children from Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya and Sudan aren’t in school, out of a total of 34 million, the United Nations Children’s Fund, or Unicef, said,” the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. That’s 40 percent of the children in five Middle Eastern nations marred by war and civil conflict. UNICEF officials believe that rate could rise to 50 percent or more in the coming years as the conflicts roiling these countries Scissors-32x32.pngintensify.https://www.commentarymagazine.com/2015/09/05/what-will-they-vote-themselves/#more-901497

Migrant Crisis Update: Hungary Busing Thousands to Border

Posted by Amy Miller September 5, 2015 at 10:00am

Crisis flows inward

Vice-News-European-Refugee-Crisis-620x43

Thousands of asylum seekers have flooded Hungary’s borders, seeking safe passage into western Europe and away from crises in places like Syria, Eritrea, and Somalia. This mass migration, however, has caused its own crisis. The European Union wasn’t ready for such a rapid and intense saturation of migrants, and the continent experienced a split with regards to how the influx should be handled. Some western countries, led by Germany and France, encouraged their neighbors to relax their policies and expand provisions for migrants; Hungary, however, was one of a handful of countries that held to its strict policies governing asylum.

All that changed on Friday, when the Hungarian government backed down on its refusal to move migrants within its borders, and began busing thousands of people to the Austrian border. Scissors-32x32.png

THE HIJRAH INTO EUROPE

“Refugees” colonize a continent.

September 4, 2015 Robert Spencer

Approximately 104,460 asylum seekers arrived in Germany during the month of August, setting a new record. That makes 413,535 registered refugees and migrants coming to Germany in 2015 so far. The country expects a total of around 800,000 people to seek asylum in Germany this year. And that’s just Germany. The entire continent of Europe is being inundated with refugees at a rate unprecedented in world history. This is no longer just a “refugee crisis.” This is a hijrah.

Hijrah, or jihad by emigration, is, according to Islamic tradition, the migration or journey of Muhammad and his followers from Mecca to Yathrib, later renamed by him to Medina, in the year 622 CE. It was after the hijrah that Muhammad for the first time became not just a preacher of religious ideas, but a political and military leader. That was what occasioned his new “revelations” exhorting his followers to commit violence against unbelievers. Significantly, the Islamic calendar counts the hijrah, not Muhammad’s birth or the occasion of his first “revelation,” as the beginning of Islam, implying that Islam is not fully itself without a political and military component Scissors-32x32.pnghttp://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/260019/hijrah-europe-robert-spencer

Europe’s multi-layered hypocrisy on refugees

Anne Applebaum

September 4 2015

Picking apart the layers of irony and hypocrisy that surround the European refugee crisis is like peeling an onion without a knife. At a train station in southern Moravia, Czech police pulled 200 refugees off a train and marked numbers on their arms. On its eastern border, Hungary is building a barbed-wire fence to keep out refugees, remarkably like the barbed wire “iron curtain” that once marked its western border. Choose whatever image you want — ships full of Jews being sent back to Nazi Europe, refugees furtively negotiating with smugglers at a bar in Casablanca — and it now has a modern twist.

As happens so often, crocodile tears are falling. The Sun, a British tabloid, has spent a decade railing against immigrants of all kinds. Not long ago, it told the British prime minister to “Draw a Red Line on Immigration — Or Else.” Now, after the publication of photographs of a dead Syrian toddler washed up on a Turkish beach, it wants him to “Deal With the Worst Crisis Facing Europe Since WW2.” Having just declared that there was no point in accepting “more and more refugees,” poor David Cameron has now declared that, actually, Britain would accept more and more refugees. His aides hurriedly explained that “he had not seen the photographs” when he made the original statement.

Here is what no one wants to say: This is, in essence, a security crisis. For years now, Europeans have chosen to pretend that wars taking place in Syria and Libya were somebody else’s problem. It’s also a foreign policy crisis: At different times and for different reasons, all of the large European states — Britain, France, Italy, Germany — have blocked attempts to create a common foreign and defense policy, and as a result they have no diplomatic or political clout.

They haven’t wanted European leadership, and most of them wouldn’t have wanted U.S. leadership either, even if any had been on offer. The richest economy in the world has a power vacuum at its heart and no army. Now the consequences are literally washing up on Europe’s shores.

Raging Horror Confirmed at Austria Italy Border – Mid-East Muslims “Refugees” Go On Rampage….

Posted on September 6, 2015 by sundance

Reports coming in from various European News Outlets are confirming mass migration rampage events by hoards of Islamists cloaked as “refugees”.

mass-migration.jpg?w=640

“Half an hour ago on the border between Italy and Austria i saw a huge crowd of immigrants. With all solidarity to people in difficult circumstances I have to say that what I saw arouses horror. This huge mass of people – sorry – but it’s an absolute wilderness … Vulgar, throwing bottles, shouting “We want Germany”. So what, Germany is now a paradise?

I saw an elderly Italian woman in a car that was surrounded by the immigrants. They pulled her by the hair out of the car and wanted to use it to go to Germany. Scissors-32x32.png

Winning: Islam And The Forever War

September 7, 2015:

Nearly a million refugees from Africa, the Middle East and Afghanistan are heading for Europe this year, lured by the safety, economic security and willingness to accept illegal migrants found there. Most of these travelers are being moved by criminal gangs that charge a lot of money for their services. Islamic terrorist groups have learned that, with some effort, they can get some of their people into Europe by joining this unwelcome migration.

A major reason for this long and expensive migration is the refusal of most Moslem countries to accept refugees. For example, the wealthiest Moslem states (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain) refuse to accept any Syrian (or any others) refugees. These countries use force to keep any illegal migrants out and these refugees know better than to even try. This is nothing new and, at best, foreigners are tolerated as stateless persons in these nations. One example of this is more than 100,000 stateless nomads in Kuwait. Called the bedoon, these people were not considered Kuwaitis in 1962 (when Kuwait became independent) because the nomads came and went as they pleased and did not seem interested. But as the oil wealth grew interest arose. At that point Kuwait decided it was not making anyone else citizens. In Syria and Iraq there have long been government attempts to punish rebellious Kurds by declaring some of them not citizens. That has not worked out well. In general this intolerance to migrants is an ancient tradition in Middle Eastern nations. It used to be so everywhere but first the United States (centuries ago) and then many other Western nations became more accepting.

During the recent refugee crises the wealthy Arab countries cited “security concerns” (not long standing tradition) for their refusal. There is some truth to that as many Moslem nations have had serious problems in the past with Moslem refugees that were given sanctuary, but not citizenship. Most of these were Palestinians and the West was allowed to pay (via the UN) for the support of these refugees. But in the 1970s and 80s Jordan and Lebanon suffered armed insurrections by the Palestinians they hosted. Jordan expelled over 20,000 Palestinians as a result and Lebanon continues to expel disloyal and rebellious Palestinians. After the 1990 Iraqi invasion and occupation of Kuwait the Kuwaitis were shocked to find that many of the 400,000 Palestinians they hosted supported the Iraqis. Worse the Palestinian leadership was quite open about such support. As a result over 90 percent of these Palestinians were expelled from Kuwait. There was a similar situation throughout Arabia and many Palestinians were forced to flee. Yemenis also supported Saddam taking Kuwait and over a million were expelled from Saudi Arabia and other Arab oil states.

The EU’s Immigration Suicide Pact

By PATRICK J. BUCHANANSeptember 8, 2015, 12:05 AM

“Liberalism is the ideology of Western suicide,” wrote James Burnham in his 1964Suicide of the West. Burnham predicted that the mindless magnanimity of liberals, who subordinate the interests of their own people and nations to utopian and altruistic impulses, would bring about an end to Western civilization.

Was he wrong? Consider what is happening in Europe.

Serbia, Hungary, and Slovakia, small nations sensing they will be swamped by asylum seekers from the Muslim world, are trying to seal their borders and secure their homelands. Their instinct for survival, their awareness of lifeboat ethics, is acute. Yet they are being condemned for trying to save themselves.

Meanwhile, the pope calls on Catholics everywhere to welcome the asylum seekers and Angela Merkel will be taking in 800,000 this year alone, though the grumbling has begun in Bavaria. This is but the beginning of what is to come, if Europe does not pull up the drawbridge. Scissors-32x32.png http://www.theamericanconservative.com/buchanan/the-eus-immigration-suicide-pact/

When Is A Refugee Really A Migrant?

It is important to understand who is trying desperately to get into Europe and exactly why they are.

By Paul Bonicelli SEPTEMBER 10, 2015

The latest report from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reveals that the human wave from the Middle East crashing into Europe is made up overwhelmingly of adult males.

As European and American policymakers scramble to articulate policy positions on the spot in the face of a humanitarian disaster, it is important to understand who is trying desperately to get into the West and exactly why they are, even if such analysis will be treated as insensitivity. The fate of millions of human beings as well as the economic burdens for taxpayers in Western countries to assume requires careful thinking and strategizing.

Let’s Define Refugee

First, start with definitions. The UNHCR’s understanding is as good a place to start as any, since they are obligated to operate relief programs according to law. Scissors-32x32.png

‘LUCKY YOU’ If You Live in California, New York, or Texas: You Will Receive More Unscreened Muslim Thugs, Rapists, and Jihadists Than All Other States

texas-new-york-california-360x240-600x40

Barack Hussein Obama, who is bringing in as many Muslims as possible before he leaves office, has chosen states (red) with the most mosques in which to dump them. Next in line are states (pink) with lots of leftist Jews, followed by the Bible Belt (orange & gold) where anti-Muslim sentiment probably is the highest (Obama’s favorite Muslim dumping Scissors-32x32.pnghttp://www.dcclothesline.com/2015/09/10/lucky-you-if-you-live-in-california-new-york-or-texas-you-will-receive-more-unscreened-muslim-thugs-rapists-and-jihadists-than-all-other-states/

Where Should They Go?

Rob Long September 11, 2015 27 COMMENTS

Last night on Fox News, Republican frontrunner (!) Donald Trump seemed to contradict his earlier position on the Syrian Civil War refugees now flooding through Europe. Just a week ago, he had suggested — vaguely — that the United States should take some of them in.

Last night, he was more emphatically against it, reiterating, among other things, that the richest states in the region — the Arab Gulf states — have yet to take in a single refugee. In this respect, at least, Trump is right in line with Kenneth Roth, the Executive Director of Human Rights Watch: Scissors-32x32.pnghttps://ricochet.com/go/

Germany Reintroduces Border Controls at Austrian Border

Posted by Fuzzy Slippers September 13, 2015 at 1:17pm

Refugees-entering-Germany.jpg

In a surprise move today, Germany has announced that it is reversing current policy with regard to refugees entering the country from Austria. While Germany continues to accept refugees, the border controls are designed to instill some order to the process. Adam Withnall, writing for The Independent, reports:

Germany has reintroduced border controls with Austria, its interior minister has confirmed, halting all trains and deploying 2,100 riot police to help carry out checks.

Speaking at a press conference called at short notice, Thomas de Maizière said the controls were being applied with immediate effect “to bring some order to the entry of refugees”.

. . . . A spokesperson for an Austrian rail company said German officials had begun halting all trains trying to cross the border into Bavaria from 5pm local time (4pm BST), while the situation involving traffic going the other way remained unclear.

Syrian refugees: 'Trust not the horse'

By Jeannie DeAngelis

If one were to ask your everyday educationally challenged American what a Trojan horse is, the answer would probably include at least one reference to an equine-sized condom.

Conversely, on the Syrian-Turkish border, where ISIS militants are more interested in world domination than they are safe sex, soldiers of the Islamic State are well aware of the Trojan horse concept and are totally prepared to reprise the mythological scheme as a way to infiltrate enemy terrain.

In Greek mythology, the Trojan horse was introduced after Paris of Troy took Helen from her husband Menelaus, the king of Sparta. During the legendary war that ensued, hidden inside a horse that was constructed by a master carpenter/warrior named Epeius, Greek soldiers were able to enter and overtake the city of Troy. Scissors-32x32.png

One year ago, almost to the day, ISIS announced that they planned to smuggle fighters into Western Europe disguised as Syrian refugees. Scissors-32x32.png

The American Refugee Resettlement Scam

By James Simpson

President Obama and his rancid leftist allies have subjected America to a blizzard of lies. Nothing that leaves his mouth even remotely parrots the truth, but typically stands truth on its head. The propaganda infrastructure spanning media, Hollywood, non-profit institutions and the halls of academia then erects a virtually impenetrable wall of disinformation to advance the lie.

They have just foisted on us a “deal” with Iran that threatens to create a holocaust, the likes of which America, and perhaps the world, has never seen. As Iran chanted “death to America” and “death to Israel,” this “deal” somehow skirted the advice and consent role reserved to the U.S. Senate. While we are afflicted with many feckless, incompetent and corrupt Republican Senators -- never mind the Democrats -- the “deal” could have never obtained the requisite approval of 2/3ds of senators. The lies about the “deal” are too numerous to catalog, and before the ink has even dried, Iran has suddenly “discovered” massive stockpiles of uranium it never knew it had!
