Rick Perry’s Path to the White House

By: Tennessean (Diary) | August 14th, 2015 at 12:18 PM

Rick Perry possesses an outstanding record of conservative governance in leading the world’s 12th largest economy over a 14 year period. America’s anemic economic recovery occurred only because of Perry’s conservative penicillin he skillfully administered in Texas during and after the great recession. So why is Rick Perry languishing in the polls? The problem isn’t Rick Perry’s record. His record of accomplishment is unrivaled and staunchly conservative across the board. Perry’s problem lies in his messaging strategy and his current inability to connect with the conservative electorate.Scissors-32x32.png

Sun Tzu wrote in his Art of War, “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat.” Rick Perry knows his own outstanding record, and he’s great at communicating it. It’s one of the reasons his favorables with conservatives are exceptionally high. But he’s suffering defeats in the polls and fundraising because he does not appear to know why Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Donald Trump, Scott Walker, Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson are resonating with voters. Scissors-32x32.png

I admire both rick Perry and Scott Walker. They both have more accomplishments than quite a few of their opponents ( Rick Perry more so than SW IMHO). But they have picked a very very tough time to run. They are running against a field with too many strong and some charismatic personalities. Unfortunately some people don't look past the shiny penny. Scott went down after the first debate and I don't think Rick gained. I think the slide will continue as more debates happen. Back in the days when the public judged by actually reading resumes because they had no choice - Rick Perry would be up where he belongs. ONE of the many good things the loss of reading has taken away.
