7:15 PM, AUG 8, 2015 • BY STEPHEN F. HAYES

In an interview on CNN last night

, Donald Trump suggested that Megyn Kelly’s tough questioning was inspired by her menstrual cycle. “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes,” Trump told CNN's Don Lemon on Friday night. “Blood coming out of her—wherever.”

He refused to apologize, of course, but after widespread condemnation, Trump, who is running on candor and straight talk, sought to explain his comments in a Tweet. “Re Megyn Kelly quote: ‘you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever’ (NOSE). Just got on w/thought.’”

It’s a comment that might end any other presidential campaign. Trump is different, in part because this isn’t a campaign. It’s an extended media-driven ego ride. Scissors-32x32.png

Trump and the New Know-Nothings Threaten the Death of the GOP

Promoting asshattery will push the party into its grave

By: Steve Berman (Diary) | August 8th, 2015 at 10:21 AM

The final Whig president of the United States was Millard Filmore in 1853. He marked the death of the Whigs, and the rise of the Know-Nothings. Today the GOP faces its own death, and the continued success of Donald Trump in the polls reflects the fact that the Republican Party is staring into its own grave. Scissors-32x32.png

But Trump’s promises are nothing but Styrofoam—light-weight and filling lots of volume. When heat is applied to Styrofoam, it evaporates, leaving a void. If nothing fills the void, the party will fall of its own weight. It’s nobody’s fault but our own if Trump destroys the GOP—and he very well could (take this seriously). Scissors-32x32.png

Thank You, Megyn Kelly

By ROD DREHERAugust 8, 2015, 11:25 AM

The Fox News anchor’s question allowed Trump to do what everybody who has followed him over the years knew he would eventually do: expose himself as the pig that he is, always was, and always will be:

Donald Trump is once again pushing the limit, bringing Megyn Kelly’s anatomy into a feud that had already opened him to charges of sexism — and the risk of losing support among the Fox News anchor’s rabid following.

After a day of escalating hostility, Trump took his attacks on Kelly to the next level on Friday night, apparently insinuating that the moderator had been menstruating when she questioned him during Thursday’s first Republican debate.
