A Seattle speech by Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was pre-empted in a chaotic confrontation Saturday afternoon with a handful of Black Lives Matter protesters, who took the stage and refused to let him speak. As the star attraction at a rally for expanding Social Security and Medicare, Sanders was just starting to address the crowd, thanking Seattle for being “one of the most progressive cities in the United States of America.”

That’s as far as he got, as a pair of women walked onstage and grabbed the microphone. “If you do not listen… your event will be shut down,” one of the protesters told organizers, who at first argued that they could speak after Sanders, but relented and said they could go first.

Some in the mostly white audience booed and hissed as they urged protesters to let the senator talk. A few yelled for police to make arrests. The protesters demanded silence before they’d speak. Marissa Johnson, one of the protesters, shot back at the crowd, “I was going to tell Bernie how racist this city is filled with progressives, but you did it for me,” accusing the audience of “white supremacist liberalism.”

The activists demanded 4 ½ minutes of silence in memory of Michael Brown, the black man shot to death by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri a year ago. While rally organizers stood and raised their hands in support, some in the crowd yelled profanities. After the few minutes of silence, the protesters said they wanted to hold Sanders accountable for failing to address their concerns when he was similarly interrupted at a town hall for liberal activists in Phoenix last month. Johnson beckoned Sanders to stand closer to him as she spoke — he refused.

On the Anniversary of Michael Brown’s Death The Washington Post Does its Best Raise Tensions and Help The Democrat Cause

The Washington Post does its part to continue the collapse in race relations in the United States… and in the process diverts attention from the real issues facing Americans of all stripes such as an anemic economy, a disastrous Iran deal and a feckless administration that can’t seem to do anything right.

On Sunday the paper ran a piece with the following title: A year after Michael Brown’s fatal shooting, unarmed black men are seven times more likely than whites to die by police gunfire. It then proceeds to discuss the deaths of a number of unarmed black men who were killed by police since the Michael Brown case one year ago. The paper helpfully notes: Scissors-32x32.png

@Draggingtree

Recall right after Obama was elected and the 1st couple on months? So many of us, even though we disagreed (vehemently) with his politics, and suspected it was going to be bad...very very bad, we held out the hope that maybe at last we (Americans) could move beyond Race. Well we were Wrong.

I keep telling people "I may not be the most right wing person you'll meet in the next 6 months, but I'm in the top 10%. I tell you, when it comes to Race..We...Don't...Care."

Like talkin to a wall.

Race Card...Gender Card...Class Envy Card, its pretty much all The Left has left. There are those that say this is all they ever had...with some justification.

Activist groups, meanwhile, said the plain clothes officers who shot Harris should never have been deployed to the scene.

"It was a poor decision to use plain clothes officers in a protest setting because it made it difficult for people to identify police officers, LMFAO.gif
