Reflecting populism born of frustration

http://triblive.com/opinion/salena/8759861-74/americans-government-president#axzz3gJ2Jxgvy

There is a disturbance in American politics. But no one in the political class seems to be pinpointing the correct source.

Donald Trump gets all of the credit for it from journalists, pundits and academics.

They could not be more wrong.

They are looking only at the surface, seeing the response to his harangues as an affirmation of the man. If they looked beyond the cartoonish image of Trump, they would understand that the true disturbance is the frustration of Americans, not the bluster of one man.

The same goes for the surge by Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont against Hillary Clinton on the Democrats' side. Clinton's other competitors — Virginia's Jim Webb, a former U.S. senator and Navy secretary, and former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley — are running deliberate campaigns, but they don't reflect the fire and unrest of voters on the center-left.

It is always remarkable to witness experts not understanding the field in which they are experts; even more remarkable, they still do not recognize the frustration of the masses, despite the unsettling wave elections of 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2014 that vividly affirmed populist movements against both political parties' establishments.

Americans are just tired of it all. Tired of no one speaking honestly to them, tired of being told they cannot speak honestly.

Think about this: For two administrations, Democrats, Republicans and independents effectively have been told to hold their tongues. During the Bush administration, you were unpatriotic if you criticized the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; during the Obama administration, you're a racist if you criticize the president or his policies.

And don't even think about expressing your values if those are outside the elite's standard of everyone deserving equality and fairness (unless, of course, you disagree with that elitist viewpoint, in which case hatred and character destruction are your reward).

Scissors-32x32.png

In a span of a few days last week, Americans witnessed Washington's glaring failure with disbelief.

First, the government admitted that Social Security numbers, fingerprints, passwords and other personal information of more than 22 million federal workers, all used to conduct background screenings, were hacked on the Obama administration's watch.

Then a whistleblower leaked an internal Department of Veterans Affairs document to the Huffington Post, showing that more than 238,000 of the 847,000 military veterans with pending applications for health care through the VA had already died.

Finally, the FBI admitted that flaws in paperwork and communications between a federal background-check worker and state law enforcement allowed Dylann Roof to buy a handgun in South Carolina, weeks before he allegedly killed black churchgoers.

No accountability, no transparency — just a pattern of bureaucratic failure that has cost lives and has fueled anger against government.

This is the tip of the iceberg.

Scissors-32x32.png

Donald Trump is going nowhere in this election cycle; neither is Bernie Sanders. But there is nothing wrong about the nomination races being a spectacle right now, because it demonstrates the volume of unrest among people looking for leadership.

Populism is lightning in a bottle. It is always bottom-up and always about people looking for a leader, not a circus barker leading a parade of tigers and jugglers on a small-town promenade.

It seems we will be hearing more and more about El Nino and the devastating floods it will bring to California over the next few months. (are they wanting water?). Was reading about the washed out bridge on I-10 and 3 times the "El Nino" and "Super El Nino" were mentioned...

I hope you're right, @Valin. Those guys deserve more support for sure.

I'll check in the morning to see is there is anything more. ISIS really needs their breathing privileges revoked.

Planned Parenthood: We Got $528.4 Million in Taxpayer Funds in One Year! http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/melanie-hunter/planned-parenthood-we-got-5284-million-taxpayer-funds-one-year

(CNSNews.com) – Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, received $528.4 million in taxpayer funding, according to its 2013-2014 annual report, which runs from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014.

The report shows that Planned Parenthood received $528.4 million in “government health services grants and reimbursements” during a one-year period, the latest figures available.

That means it received an average of $1,447,671 in taxpayer funds per day and an average of $60,320 every hour.

Several members of Congress, as well as some GOP presidential candidates, are calling for Planned Parenthood to be defunded after a video surfaced showing Dr. Deborah Nucatola, senior director of medical services, discussing the sale of baby parts with two actors posing as a fetal tissue procurement company.

The video was secretly made by the Center for Medical Progress, a non-profit “group of citizen journalists dedicated to monitoring and reporting on medical ethics and advances.”

IF Black lives really mattered, we wouldn't have so many abortions. From its start, the purpose of Planned Parenthood was as a way to control the population of those deemed less socially acceptable.

Blacks, Asians, those considered to be parasites on society were all targets of this Democrat policy meant to work alongside of groups such as the KKK (another Democrat group) to help promote those they believed would make society better. The primary cause of the destruction of Black families and the loss of Black lives is liberal agendas such as abortion, "gun free zones" and welfare policies.

"The most merciful thing that the large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it." Margaret Sanger

"Birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race." Margaret Sanger

"We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members." Margaret Sanger

(Seems to work. Anyone every heard of Sharpton, Jackson, et al)

"It is a vicious cycle; ignorance breeds poverty and poverty breeds ignorance. There is only
one cure for both, and that is to stoop breeding these things. Stop bringing to birth children whose inheritance cannot be one of health or intelligence. Stop bringing into the world children whose parents cannot provide for them."
Margaret Sanger

Margaret Sanger embodies all that one would say is needed to be a "good liberal Democrat"

According to your link, 2 Turkish policemen and a former ISIS member were assassinated by PKK's youth action group....called YDG-H.......after YDG-H followed him for 3 months.

ISIS confirmed that Mürsel Gül, a "former" member was killed.

Of course.....since they're all dead....they're "former".....something....

Kurdish Assassins Kill Islamists in Revenge for ISIS Bombing

Kurdish militant group continues revenge attacks for ISIS suicide bombing on Monday; two Islamists assassinated by PKK.

Arutz Sheva Staff

7/23/2015, 12:53 PM

A militant group allied to Turkey's outlawed Kurdish party has shot dead in Istanbul an alleged member of ISIS who had fought in Syria, media said Thursday. The reports come amid soaring tensions in Turkey following Monday's suicide bombing in the town of Suruc on the border with Syria that killed 32 and that the authorities blamed on ISIS.

The man, named as Mursel Gul, was assassinated late on Tuesday in Istanbul, Turkish media including the Hurriyet daily and state Anatolia news agency reported. The Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement (YDG-H), seen as the youth wing of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), claimed responsibility for the killing in a statement, reports said.

The YDG-H statement said that the man had come to Istanbul seven months ago to receive treatment after being wounded while fighting with ISIS against Kurds for the flashpoint town of Kobane in Syria. The group said it had been tracking his movements for three months and alleged Gul had himself been planning attacks in Istanbul.

"We will continue our operations against the ISIS gang and have identified many of them and will execute and punish them," it added."The Suruc murderers will be brought to account," it said.
