Hillary: Obama’s Syrian Policy a “Failure”; Also Criticizes Obama’s “Don’t Do Stupid s^#@” Formulation

In an interview published today in The Atlantic, Hillary Clinton calls Obama’s failure to back Syrian rebels a “failure,” and also criticizes Obama’s ridiculous “Don’t do stupid s^#@” foreign policy principle.

 

Well, his former secretary of state, Hillary Rodham Clinton, isn’t buying it. In an interview with me earlier this week, she used her sharpest language yet to describe the “failure” that resulted from the decision to keep the U.S. on the sidelines during the first phase of the Syrian uprising.

 

“The failure to help build up a credible fighting force of the people who were the originators of the protests against Assad—there were Islamists, there were secularists, there was everything in the middle—the failure to do that left a big vacuum, which the jihadists have now filled,” Clinton said.

MoveOn Warns Clinton After Knocking Obama On Foreign Policy

The liberal group MoveOn.org issued a stark warning to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in response to her not-so-subtle knock on President Barack Obama's foreign policy approach.

In a statement on Tuesday Ilya Sheyman, the executive director of MoveOn Political Action, said that Clinton or "any other person thinking about seeking the Democratic nomination in 2016, should think long and hard before embracing the same policies advocated by right-wing war hawks that got America into Iraq in the first place and helped set the stage for Iraq's troubles."

Secretary Clinton, and any other person thinking about seeking the Democratic nomination in 2016, should think long and hard before embracing the same policies advocated by right-wing war hawks that got America into Iraq in the first place and helped set the stage for Iraq’s troubles today. These hawkish policy stances are also threatening to undermine the peaceful international resolution of Iran’s nuclear program.

Voters elected President Obama in 2008 to bring the war in Iraq to an end. MoveOn members will continue to stand with elected officials who oppose military escalation that could put us back on a path to endless war.

The rank spectacle of ex-Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton suddenly turning on her commander in chief and former boss to shiv him in the back over the burning ruins she helped make of the Middle East is staggering to behold.

 

The brassiness, dishonesty and shamelessness as she slides into yet another presidential campaign season is enough to choke that old Arkansas draft mule of a husband she hitched her career to. The scheming calculation of it all would make Lady Macbeth take to the bed for blushing.

Well, by now we all well know what conviction means in Clinton World. It means: As long as everybody likes me. Or: So long as it gets me what I want. Or: Until that next big-bosom gal with kiss-me pumps and Dolly Parton hair comes walking along.

 

So, it took precisely one election cycle for Mrs. Clintons conviction over invading Iraq to fold up like the AstroTurf in the back of Bubbas El Camino. (It was a real sort of Southern deal, the former president once explained. I had AstroTurf in the back. You dont want to know why, but I did.)
