Proposed IRS Regs Would Immediately, Unlawfully and Permanently Muzzle Conservatives

In 2010, millions of American tea-party constitutionalists, to include the GOP's Christian base, united in a remarkable grass-roots effort to rein in our unbridled federal government and return it to its expressly limited constitutional confines. As a result, an unprecedented number of counter-constitutionalist lawmakers (read: liberal Democrats) were swept from office.

The Obama administration wasn't going to take this lying down. Whether it was by tacit approval or via direct order remains largely immaterial. The president quickly and unlawfully politicized the Internal Revenue Service, using it as a weapon against his political enemies. In an explosive scandal that continues to grow, the Obama IRS was caught - smoking gun in hand - intentionally targeting conservative and Christian organizations and individuals for harassment, intimidation and, ultimately, for political destruction.

Not only has Obama faced zero accountability for these arguably impeachable offenses, he has since doubled down. With jaw-dropping gall, his administration has now moved to officially weaponize the IRS against conservatives once and for all.

Sarah Palin’s Dad Reportedly "Horribly Harassed" by the IRS Six Times

That is, according to Chuck Heath Jr. (Sarah Palin's older brother), who wrote this on his Facebook page last weekend (h/t PJ Media):

Coincidence? You decide.

My father, who worked multiple jobs and faithfully and honestly paid his taxes for fifty years, had never heard a word from the IRS. In 2008, his daughter was tapped to run for vice president of the United States. Since that time, he has been, in his words "horribly harassed" six times by the agency. They've tried to dig up something on him but he's always operated above board.

Government and politics are ugly. Kudos to the few that are trying to clean it up.

Don’t expect the mainstream media to pick this story up, either. And by the way, even if you are very skeptical -- and don’t believe Sarah Palin’s father was targeted at all by the IRS, let alone six times -- this might pique your interest. The WSJ reported last night that it’s looking increasingly unlikely criminal charges will be filed against anyone over the IRS scandal. What? In short, we’re told, the federal bureaucrats running the agency had no idea what they were doing, or something (via Allahpundit):

The Federal Bureau of Investigation doesn't plan to file criminal charges over the Internal Revenue Service's heightened scrutiny of conservative groups, according to law-enforcement officials, a move that likely will only intensify debate over the politically charged scandal.

The officials said investigators didn't find the kind of political bias or "enemy hunting" that would amount to a violation of criminal law. Instead, what emerged during the probe was evidence of a mismanaged bureaucracy enforcing rules about tax-exemption applications it didn't understand, according to the law-enforcement officials.Scissors-32x32.png

IRS Targeting and 2014

Democrats are working hard to make sure conservative groups are silenced in the 2014 midterms.

1/16/14

President Obama and Democrats have been at great pains to insist they knew nothing about IRS targeting of conservative 501©(4) nonprofits before the 2012 election. They've been at even greater pains this week to ensure that the same conservative groups are silenced in the 2014 midterms.

That's the big, dirty secret of the omnibus negotiations. As one of the only bills destined to pass this year, the omnibus wasbehind the scenesa flurry of horse trading. One of the biggest fights was over GOP efforts to include language to stop the IRS from instituting a new round of 501©(4) targeting. The White House is so counting on the tax agency to muzzle its political opponents that it willingly sacrificed any manner of its own priorities to keep the muzzle in place.

And now back to our previously scheduled outrage over the * Chris Christie administration's abuse of traffic cones on the George Washington Bridge.

The fight was sparked by a new rule that the Treasury Department and the IRS introduced during the hush of Thanksgiving recess, ostensibly to "improve" the law governing nonprofits. What the rule in fact does is recategorize as "political" all manner of educational activities that 501©(4) social-welfare organizations currently engage in.

* The question is can the Republic survive this huge major scandal?
