Earlier today, I noted a CNN poll that has the GOP out front on the generic Congressional preference question by five points, 49%/44%. When Republicans are on the short end of such pollsas, for example, after the recent partial government slowdownthere is no shortage of advice from the media. Move to the center! Get rid of those radicals! Become Democrats! Note, however, the deafening silence when the Democrats are trailing in the same polls.

That doesnt mean, of course, that the Dems arent paying attention. Within a few hours after the CNN poll came out, the Democrats Rapid Response team was emailing the partys faithful, asking for money:

Subject: some tough news:

We woke up to some tough news this morning:

Washington (CNN) Democrats have lost their advantage and Republicans now have a slight edge in the battle for control of Congress, according to a new national poll.

John The latest Republican assault on Obamacare has proven to be dangerously effective. If we dont respond to Republican smears with the facts right now, the damage to the Affordable Care Act AND our chances in 2014 could be irreversible.

Note that there is never any acknowledgement that Obamacares unpopularity could be due to the laws inherent defects or its inept implementation. No, the problemas always, in Democrat Worldis a Republican assault and Republican smears. The Democrats say they need to get the facts out, but what facts? The email, like virtually all such communications from the Democratic Party to its members, contains none.
