Valin
The Daily Beast: Ron Christie December 17th 2013 A skirmish on MSNBC underscores the new normal in Democratic thinking: If you disagree with Obama, you must be racist. A Tea Party member? Racist! How its damaging our cultural fabric. It was the straw that broke the camels back. On Sunday I appeared as a guest on the Melissa Harris-Perry show to discuss the state of politics in America today. One of my fellow panelists, Angela Nye, observed: I was just thinking, to me, in 2010, the Republican infighting took a particularly dangerous tone because it wasnt just about infighting anymore. It was about taking our country back with the resurrection of the Tea Party. And it was very, very racial, whether any of them will admit it or not. Valin
Vox Populi JonahBerlin 6 minutes ago You went to a Tea Party event and nobody said anything racist to you? Okay, I go to Tea Party websites and Facebook pages. The comments are FILLED WITH RACISM from the supporters of those pages, and not wishy washy racism, the kind of stuff that someone who cares about the dynamics and subtleties of white supremacy might point at, I'm talking about good old fashioned, "Black people on welfare need to stop whining" kind of racism. Or the "look at this picture of Trayvon Martin who isn't even Trayvon Martin I just can't tell the different between difference black people" kind of racism. My anecdotal evidence is certainly as important as yours. There is a racist, nativist, anti-immigrant faction in the Tea Party. You deny it, because you're oblivious, like Alan Keyes, Shelby Steele, and Herman Cain. I do not know what planet you live on, but it isn't mine. TomMariner 37 minutes ago Thank you Ron!! Thank you Daily Beast for running this! Yes, the article recognizes the cheap attack on the "tea party" because the group is effective, but the important point is "If the practice remains unchecked, legitimate incidents of racism will be dismissed." Al Sharpton and his crowd cheapen genuine racial bias in his true role of Democrat Party spokesperson. All of us, from the Rush Limbaugh's to the Rachel Maddow's really want to know if somebody is dismissing or disrespecting our fellow citizens for stupid reasons. Americans will stand up and fight that any day -- but now it is masked by sleazy partisan politics.
