Two Christians Murdered, One Assaulted By Radical Islamists In Nigeria

"Fulani herdsmen have continued to kill innocent Christians in our villages, yet the Nigerian government has not taken proactive measures to end the onslaught."

Jacob Airey

June 20, 2018

Two Christians were brutally murdered and one viciously attacked by radical Islamist Fulani herdsmen near the village of Kwall located in the Plateau state in Nigeria.

On June 10, the three friends Ibrahim Weyi, Larry More, and Samuel Weyi were travelling home on a motorcycle after a Sunday worship service at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in the Bassa area when they were ambushed by the Islamic extremists, according to a Morning Star News report.

Ibrahim Weyi and More were hacked to death by machetes while Samuel Weyi remains in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit in the city of Jos.

A local resident explained, "Fulani herdsmen have continued to kill innocent Christians in our villages, yet the Nigerian government has not taken proactive measures to end the onslaught."

The local authorities have stated that there is an investigation into the brutal murders, but that has not given the Christians any comfort.

Children Murdered in Their Beds: Nigeria Now the Deadliest Place to Be a Christian

Gary lane

July 9 2018

A new wave of attacks by Fulani herdsmen against Christians is leading one international human rights advocate to call on the US Congress to appoint a special envoy to investigate.

"Nigeria is now the deadliest place in the world to be a Christian," explained attorney Emmanuel Ogebe. "What we have is a genocide. They are trying to displace the Christians, they are trying to possess their land and they are trying to impose their religion on the so-called infidels and pagans who they consider Christians to be."

Two weeks ago, 238 people were killed in a village massacre in north-central Nigeria. Six of Ogebe's relatives were among the victims.

Militants Have Slaughtered Hundreds of Nigerian Christians Since February

Christians in the United States have faced persecution for their beliefs over the past few years. Media outlets have done a decent job reporting on the incidents where believers face threats to their religious liberty. But in other parts of the world, Christians are paying for their faith with their lives.

Nigeria is one of the most dangerous countries for Christians, a nation that ranks 12th on Open Doors USA's World Watch List.

Over the past few years, we've heard of the stories of Boko Haram and their terror against Christians, but Nigerian believers are facing an even more recent threat that's not getting the press it deserves.

In one of the most under-reported international stories, militants have killed more than a hundred Christians in Nigeria over the past few weeks. The Fulani militia, a group of traveling herdsmen who happen to practice Islam, has unleashed a series of attacks on Christians in the Nigerian state of Kaduna since February.:snip:

Ad Feedback Pakistan Court Acquits Two Muslims Convicted of Burning Christian Couple to Death

(CNSNews.com) – It was one of the most gruesome killings linked to allegations of blasphemy in Pakistan, and now two Muslims convicted of burning alive a young Christian man and his pregnant wife have been acquitted.

Shahzad Masih and his wife Shama were attacked and murdered in Punjab province in 2014 by a Muslim mob enraged by claims that a Qur’an had been desecrated.

Mobilized by announcements over mosque loudspeakers in nearby villages, the mob dragged the couple from a building where they were being held against their will.

Amid cries of “Allahu Akbar” and “kill infidel Christians,” according to eyewitnesses, the assailants beat Shahzad and Shama with clubs before burning them alive in a brick kiln where they worked as indentured laborers. The oldest of their three children, then aged six, witnessed the murder. Relatives reportedly fled the scene with the other two.:snip:

'Break the Cross!' The Jihad on Christianity

A 37-year-old Muslim migrant in Rome was recently arrested for homicide after he stabbed a Christian man in the throat for wearing a crucifix around his neck. “Religious hate” is cited as an “aggravating factor” in the crime.

To be sure, this is hardly the first “religious hate” crime to occur in the context of the cross in Italy. Among others,

A Muslim boy of African origin picked on, insulted, and eventually beat a 12-year-old girl during school because she too was wearing a crucifix.

  • A Muslim migrant invaded an old church in Venice and attacked its large, 300-year-old cross, breaking off one of its arms, while shouting, “All that is in a church is false!”
  • After a crucifix was destroyed in close proximity to a populated mosque, the area’s mayor said concerning the identity of the culprit(s): “Before we put a show of unity with Muslims, let’s have them begin by respecting our civilization and our culture.”

The fact is, Islamic hostility to the cross is an unwavering phenomenon—one that crosses continents and centuries; one that is very much indicative of Islam’s innate hostility to Christianity.:snip:

The War on the Cross

John Hinderaker

June 9, 2019

In numerical terms, Christians are far and away the world’s leading victims of persecution. Pretty much all of that persecution comes at the hands of Muslims. Raymond Ibrahim is one of the few who have labored tirelessly to expose the plight of Christians around the world, usually to an audience, here in the U.S., that seems almost entirely indifferent.

At PJ Media, Ibrahim addresses Islam’s war on the cross as a Christian symbol–a war that was ordered by Mohammed and that continues today:

Not Just Muslims..................

Opposition to the Gospel

AGWM Communications

June 7, 2019

“I’m sure I’m going to die very soon,” the pastor said to his wife.

She clinched her fists. Softly but firmly she replied, “Then God must give me a lot of strength to bear it.”

Only a few hours later, his words proved true.

He had planted the church in 1984. After more than three years of arduous work and much persecution, he had seen the struggling congregation grow to about 30 members. Religious and political extremists threatened to destroy the work and kill the pastor. On that Friday, March 25, 1988, they carried out their threat.

That evening, the pastor and his wife shared a meal. Soon afterward, someone approached the house. The pastor went outside while his wife picked up their baby and prepared to follow him. Just as she started toward the door, she heard the gunshot.

Although expressions like “religious extremists” are often applied to Islamic terror groups, and a great deal of opposition to Christianity exists in the Islamic world, this pastor was martyred by Buddhists in his Southern Asia community. Adherents of a religion widely perceived as peaceful were willing to take extreme measures to prevent the gospel from taking root locally. The pastor’s attackers were not successful. His wife continued to lead that church, which became a thriving congregation that witnessed countless miracles and salvation decisions.

Bryan Webb, missionary to Vanuatu and a writer for AGWM Communications, visited Haridwar in 2018.

“We walk out to the top of the steps overlooking the Ganges River and watch the worshippers,” Webb remembers. “The mix is diverse, with well-dressed businessmen, villagers in homespun cloth, young and old, women in traditional dress, and others in jeans and Mickey Mouse T-shirts. Some kneel at the edge and pour out cremated remains of loved ones; others gather sacred water into plastic containers to carry home and pour out on their personal shrines. Family members help a stroke-crippled old man and a handicapped young girl down the steps and into the water. Everyone must get in the water.”

Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism — these religions hold billions of lost people in their grip. But countless local religions are equally opposed to recognizing Jesus Christ as the unique and divine Savior of the world.

Shocking Report: 'Persecution of Christians Worldwide Close to Genocide'

According to a shocking new report, Christians are "by far the most widely persecuted" members of a religion in the world. It also warns that this persecution is now nearing "genocide" levels.

The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) shared the report compiled by the Bishop of Truro the Right Reverend Philip Mounstephen. It states that violence and oppression against Christians is worsening as time goes by.

"Evidence shows not only the geographic spread of anti-Christian persecution, but also its increasing severity," the report states. "In some regions, the level and nature of persecution is arguably coming close to meeting the international definition of genocide, according to that adopted by the UN."

The evidence shows that Christianity is "by far the most widely persecuted religion." This is extremely noteworthy because as many as one-third of the world's population are suffering persecution because of their religious beliefs. Of those, an estimated 80 percent are Christians.:snip:

"There Is No Christian Anymore in This Town": Persecution of Christians, June 2019

  • Three men and one woman robbed, beat, and poisoned Sagheer Masih, a 35-year-old Christian auto-rickshaw driver. "He was well-mannered, polite and very friendly. Knowing he had the responsibility of taking care of three younger siblings... he ensured that he always got to work early and left late in order to gather as much money as he could to care for them.... Instead of killing him in on the spot, they forced him to drink poison and acid and left him there to die...." — International Christian Concern, June 20, 2019, Pakistan.

  • "Their tactic is to befriend someone when they come in [to prison]. If they don't convert, they will then start spreading rumours about them, that the person is a snitch, so that they will be ostracised. Then the beatings follow." — An inmate, according to a Ministry of Justice report; The Times, June 7, 2019, United Kingdom.

  • "We cannot allow the Christians... to allege that Jesus is the Son of God," explained one mosque leader; "this [is] a serious blasphemy to Muslims." — Morning Star News, June 3, 2019, Uganda.:snip:

At least 14 killed in attack on Burkina Faso church

Dec. 1 2019

OUAGADOUGOU (Reuters) - At least 14 people were shot dead in an attack on a church in eastern Burkina Faso on Sunday morning, the government said.

The identity of the gunmen was not immediately clear and further details on the attack had yet to emerge. Burkinabe armed forces were caring for the wounded and searching the area, the government said in a statement.

This year an Islamist insurgency has ignited ethnic and religious tensions in Burkina Faso, rendering large parts of the country ungovernable, especially in northern areas bordering restive Mali.

The attack took place in the village of Hantoukoura near the border with Niger in the Est region, an area known for banditry that has come under attack over the past year from suspected jihadist groups with links to al Qaeda and Islamic State.

Forbes Calls for Recognition of Christian Persecution as Global Problem

Forbes magazine has appealed for recognition of the phenomenon of Christian persecution around the globe as a crisis demanding focused attention.

Report after report “has been raising the issues that relate to the persecution of Christians globally,” notes Forbes contributor Ewelina U. Ochab, which includes “atrocities that amount to genocide and crimes against humanity.”

Faith-based persecution affects Christians more than any other religious group on the planet, Ms. Ochab observes, and therefore anti-Christian persecution deserves to be addressed as a critical issue in its own right.

Ochab cites a recent report by the Bishop of Truro for the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, which identified “a global phenomenon of discriminatory behavior and physical attacks, some sadly deadly, on Christian children, women and men, often from the world’s poorest communities.”

“Studies consistently show that Christians suffer significantly higher levels of persecution and intolerance,” she adds, and far from diminishing, the persecution of Christians has increased in 73 countries, according to Open Doors’ World Watch List 2019, and now affects 245 million Christians.

Report: 9 Christians Murdered in Kenya for Refusing to Recite Islamic Creed

At least nine Christians were murdered by Islamic extremists in Kenya on Dec. 6 because they refused to recite the Islamic Shadada, a Muslim creed, according to International Christian Concern (ICC), a human rights organization based in Washington, D.C.

The ICC further reported that similar crimes have occurred in Northern Kenya for many years, usually carried out by members of the radical Islamic group al-Shabaab.

"On December 6, 2019, 11 non-local Christian passengers were attacked while travelling to Mandera from Nairobi and killed at Kotulo in northeastern Kenya," said the ICC.  "They were reportedly separated from their Muslim counterparts and killed for failing to recite the Islamic Shahada."

KANO, NIGERIA - Boko Haram jihadists have killed seven people on Christmas Eve in a raid on a Christian village near the town of Chibok in northeast Nigeria's Borno state, local militia and residents told AFP Wednesday.

Dozens of fighters driving trucks and motorcycles stormed into Kwarangulum late Tuesday, shooting fleeing residents and burning homes after looting food supplies.

Boko Haram and its IS-affiliated Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) faction have recently stepped up attacks on military and civilian targets.

"They killed seven people and abducted a teenage girl in the attack," local vigilante David Bitrus said.

"They took away food stuff and burnt many houses before leaving," he said, adding that a church was also burnt.

We "Have to Kill Christians": Persecution of Christians, October 2019

The Slaughter of Christians

:snip:Uganda: A Muslim mob set fire to the home of former Muslim, Ali Nakabale, 36, for converting to Christianity. Four of his family members—including his two children, a six-year-old son and a nine-year-old daughter—were burned to death in the blaze. His wife, apparently enraged to learn that Ali had become a Christian, reportedly prompted the arson attack. "I had just visited my aunt only to receive sad news of the burning of our house," Nakabale said. "Upon arriving home, I found the house destroyed by fire that burned my four family members, including my two children." His mother and stepfather were also killed in the blaze. "On reaching the mortuary, I found their bodies burned beyond recognition."

"We saw fire emanating from the house of Hamidah with loud chants from Muslims saying, 'Allah Akbar [Allah is greater],'" reported a neighbor. Earlier, when his wife learned that his son and he had become Christian, she had beated the boy. On "[t]he same day my wife walked out of the marriage and left the home," said Ali. "We got scared because we knew that our lives were in danger."

Egypt Ushers in New Year With Murderous Assaults on Christian Copts

The New Year began with an uptick in slaughter attempts on Egypt’s Coptic Christian minority.

First, on January 12, 2020, a Muslim man crept up behind a Coptic woman walking home with groceries, pulled her head back with a hand full of hair, and slit her throat with a knife in the other hand.

Nearby people attacked and restrained the man in al-Wariq, Giza, where the incident took place.  Catherine Ramzi was rushed to a nearby medical center, where her throat was sewn with 63 stitches; despite initial heavy bleeding, she managed to survive. The doctor told her that had the knife penetrated one millimeter more—her now mangled sweatshirt had provided some buffering against the knife—it would’ve reached her jugulars and killed her.

During an interview, she explained that she had never before seen the man. All she heard him say during the assault is that she “deserved it” because her “hair was exposed.” He may have also identified her as a Christian because, like many Copts, Catherine bears a visible tattoo of the cross on her hand.

A militant group you may not know kills hundreds of Christians every year

The recent news reports about Christian persecution coming out of Nigeria are horrifying. A day after Christmas, extremists who identified themselves as part of ISIS murdered 11 Christians in Nigeria. A few weeks into the new year, on Jan. 19, the Islamic State of West Africa released a video of a child — who looked to be around 10 years old — executing a Christian man in Borno, Nigeria.

A few days later, on Jan. 22, a Nigerian pastor, the Rev. Lawan Andimi, was beheaded by Boko Haram’s militants. Andimi had made international news for turning a hostage video into a testimonial about his faith in Jesus. “By the grace of God, I will be together with my wife, my children, and my colleagues,” Andimi said. His murder triggered protests in 28 of Nigeria’s 36 states, drawing an estimated 5 million people to denounce violence against Christians.

While the world has been consumed by news about Iran, China and conflicts in other regions, Nigeria’s militant and extremist groups have waged a campaign of death and devastation against Christians.:snip:

The 'Evil Called Barack Obama' and the Genocidal Slaughter of Nigerian Christians

Not only is Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari behind what several international observers are calling a “genocide” of Christians in his nation—but Barack Hussein Obama played a major role in the Muslim president’s rise to power: these two interconnected accusations are increasingly being made—not by “xenophobic” Americans but Nigerians themselves, including several leaders and officials.

Most recently, Femi Fani-Kayode, Nigeria’s former minister of culture and tourism, wrote in a Facebook post:

What Obama, John Kerry and Hilary Clinton did to Nigeria by funding and supporting Buhari in the 2015 presidential election and helping Boko Haram in 2014/2015 was sheer wickedness and the blood of all those killed by the Buhari administration, his Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram over the last 5 years are on their hands.

Kerry’s and Clinton’s appeasement of Boko Haram—an Islamic terror organization notorious for massacring, enslaving, and raping Christians, and bombing and burning their churches—is apparently what connects them to this “sheer wickedness.”

For example, after a Nigerian military offensive killed 30 Boko Haram terrorists in 2013, then secretary of state Kerry “issued a strongly worded statement” to Buhari’s predecessor, President Goodluck Jonathan (2010-2015), a Christian.  In it, Kerry warned Jonathan that “We are … deeply concerned by credible allegations that Nigerian security forces are committing gross human rights violations” against the terrorists.:snip:

No 'Merry Christmas' for Christians in Hamas-ruled Gaza

Christmas will be even more fraught this year for the estimated 1,000 Christians, mostly Greek Orthodox, living in terrorist Hamas Muslim-governed Gaza, home to more than two million Muslims.

(And no, in case you were wondering, although Gaza shares a border with Israel, no Jews live there. The Muslims won't allow it.)

Like most of the world, the inhabitants of Gaza have been hit by the Wuhan coronavirus and authorities have restricted movement, closing down businesses and schools.  And of course, the Gazans Christians won't be able to travel to Muslim ruled Bethlehem, where Christians believe Jesus was born, to celebrate because this town is also suffering from Wuhan coronavirus and has similar restrictions in place.

Adding to all this, the Algemeiner Journal reported that a leaked Hamas document recommended that Muslims in Gaza restrict their dealings with Christians during the holiday season.  :snip:

Attacked Christian Nurse Charged with Blasphemy in Pakistan

Hospital personnel strike, badger and lock her in room.

January 29, 2021 By Our Pakistan Correspondent

LAHORE, Pakistan (Morning Star News) – Police in Pakistan who had dismissed accusations of blasphemy against a Christian nurse who was attacked by hospital personnel registered a case against her today after pressure from an Islamist mob, sources said.

Staff members of the hospital in Karachi on Thursday (Jan. 28) slapped, beat and locked nurse Tabeeta Nazir Gill, 42, in a room after baselessly accusing her of blaspheming Islam, sources said.

Police had questioned and released Nazir Gill after concluding that the accusations were false and based on a personal vendetta by a co-worker, but a Muslim mob besieged the police station today after the complainant, Saba Wasi, called on Muslim leaders to mobilize them, Christian rights activist Ghazala Shafique said. Nazir Gill and her family have gone into hiding and were not available for comment.
