Valin
Space Coast Daily 4/25/13 SpaceX’s Grasshopper flew 820 feet in a test flight on Monday tripling its altitude of a March leap. The Grasshopper is a 10-story Vertical Takeoff Vertical Landing (VTVL) rocket that SpaceX engineers have designed to test the systems required to return a rocket back to Earth intact for further use While most rockets are designed to burn up in the atmosphere during re-entry, SpaceX’s rockets of the future are now designed to return to the launch pad for a vertical landing. Valin
Very cool. The idea is to get a true reusable rocket. This is their 5th test. It's still going to be a while. The whole private sector space business has really taken off (as it were) in the last (?)ten years. Really exciting!

Pepper
@Valin @clearvision Taking off might seem kind of natural but landing it in the same postion seems iffy. https://i.chzbgr.com...9728/h60AE9D12/
