Geee
Human Events: Since the GOP’s loss in the 2012 election, the Republican establishment has been scrambling to rebrand itself. But the GOP still hasn’t gone far enough with its post-election soul searching. Fixing the problem will require a number of novel ideas – but let me put one on the table. The Republican Party must engage its members in an open and collaborative process to discuss exactly what the party should stands for and believes in. In so doing, they will effectively create a new Party platform and update the concept of the platform for the 21st century. This platform that is proposed, written, and ratified in an open process should be the foundation behind which the GOP rallies and will the beginning of a real effort to establish a modern social media presence. Chairman Reince Preibus’s launch of the Growth & Opportunity Project, co-chaired by Henry Barbour and Ari Fleischer, is a good first step, but it is only that – a first step. It does little to address the core issues threatening the future of the Republican Party. It does not offer a substantive perspective on the party’s next steps; rather, the Project’s findings related mainly to new steps in messaging and campaigning. Changing the emphasis on certain issues in a speech will neither advance the party nor will it solve the problems facing Republicans today. Instead, the Grand Old Party should create an online “platform” to allow Republicans to put forward new ideas. The platform should represent the ideas of the Republican party of today and not three decades ago. Such a process is long overdue. 19th and mid-20th century politics conjures up images of smoke-filled rooms where only party leaders has a say in picking candidates and writing the party platform. Today, with the modern primary system and elected delegate process, it would be reasonable to assume that those days are long gone.

Like so many of us (evil right wing extremists) I don't expect to always get my way, this is assuming I know exactly what it is I want on any given issue. What I do want and we (the great unwashed) should expect is to be listened to and taken seriously. Not all good ideas/policies come from DC. In fact a good argument could be made that good ideas/policies coming out of DC is the exception that proves the rule.

Draggingtree
A Few Good MenBy: littletboca (Diary) | December 30th, 2013 at 10:19 AM It’s rather difficult to realize that the Old Democratic Party believed in the Jeffersonian Democracy – they believed in our Constitution, very limited executive authority, state’s rights and civil liberties. They realized that our economy would flourish with limited business and commerce regulations – they believed in very limited control of businesses and commerce. Those were the good old days when some staunch Patriots weren’t afraid to stand up and fight the devil toe to toe. Then we had the GOP (Grand Old Party) who believed in fiscal responsibility, also free enterprise and they did not like the welfare state idea at all. They truly were a grand old party pretty much dominating the Democrats for 70 years plus until, like the Democrats they lost their way GOP joined the politically correct crowd and turned their once strong party into a grasshopper elite club jumping from one side to the other without protecting our Nation and Americans – they are the ” has beens” who talked a good talk, but didn’t walk the walk. http://www.redstate.com/littletboca/2013/12/30/a-few-good-men/
