Familiar faces on lineup for cooking show

HOUSTON — One of America’s best-known cooking personalities has her sights set on Texas. Food Network star Paula Deen will be one of the headlining attractions at Houston’s Metropolitan Cooking Show on Sept. 15-16 at Reliant Center.

 

“I love coming to Texas,” Deen said in a recent phone interview. “I was here last year for the Metropolitan Cooking Show and had a wonderful time, so I’m really looking forward to coming back.”

 

Deen will appear on both days of the cooking show in the Celebrity Theater, a 3,000-seat venue within the cooking show equipped for cooking demonstrations and chef presentations.

Cheesy Tomato Grits

 

1 1/4 cups whole milk

 

1 cup quick-cooking grits

 

1 teaspoon salt

Chicken Country Captain

 

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

 

1 tablespoon butter

Vegetable Parmesan

 

Unsalted butter, for the pan

 

1 medium eggplant, cut into 1/4 to 1/2 inch slices
