The foods of interior Mexico have won many converts, even among those of us who grew up on the Tex-Mex dishes made north of the border. One of the best-known pathfinders for Texans discovering traditional Mexican cuisine has been Hugo Ortega, whose Houston restaurant, Hugo’s, has won wide acclaim.

Ortega will be at Galveston Bookshop on Saturday to sign copies of his new cookbook, “Street Food of Mexico,” which he wrote with his brother Ruben Ortega.
