Pepper
Thanks. US weighed 3 options for destroying downed RQ-170\ Another U-2 incident. The technology now goes to our Marxist 'friends'. Another Skunk Works Plane Downed-This Time Over Iran Another U.S. official with access to intelligence said that losing the Sentinel is a major security breach. The official, who was not authorized to publicly speak about the information, wouldn't say how the drone fell into Iranian hands, but confirmed that the downed drone was largely intact. "It's bad — they'll have everything" in terms of the secret technology in the aircraft, the official said. "And the Chinese or the Russians will have it too." RandyM
I would have thought that possibility would have been #1 on their risk assessment list when building the drones, with an appropriate method of destruction built into it.
Casino67
Would think that in the future, these drones will be equipped with a self-destruct option. Don't know if it would have worked in this instance as they apparently lost communication with it. Maybe a 'dead man' switch would work, no communication it go boom. That's exactly what I was thinking.
