Geee
Big Government:On Friday, unions scored a temporary victory to maintain their ability to collect union dues from Wisconsin public employees when Judge Maryann Sumi (the same judge who refused to order striking teachers back to work in February) issued a Temporary Restraining Order preventing the implementation of Wisconsin’s new law governing public-sector unions.Via the Wall Street Journal:Judge Maryann Sumi said a lawsuit filed by the Dane County district attorney had enough merit for her to issue a temporary restraining order to prevent Secretary of State Doug La Follette from publishing the bill while she reviews the case. This is a problem. Judge Maryann Sumi should have recused herself entirely from the Wisconsin battle due to her inability to be neutral in this case. You see, Maryann Sumi has a clear conflict of interest. Her son is a political operative who also happens to be a former lead field manager with the AFL-CIO and data manager for the SEIU State Council. Both the SEIU and the AFL-CIO have members who are public-sector employees in Wisconsin. In fact, as a federation, the AFL-CIO can boast of several member-unions that represent public-sector employees. Maryann Sumi is hardly an unbiased judge in the matter.Jacob “Jake” Sinderbrand, Sumi’s son [see page nine here], runs a company called Left Field Strategies, a firm that works on political campaigns. We are a firm dedicated to maximizing efficient and effective voter contact in a modern campaign atmosphere. Specializing in doorknocking and phone bank strategies, we use state-of-the-art campaign resources to ensure that no doorknock or phone call is wasted as you campaign for office. We bring extensive experience as professional canvassers and callers, who have knocked on tens of thousands of doors, and have cut hundreds of thousands of doors and phone numbers for various issue and electoral campaigns. My first reaction was "Unfrapping unbelievable!!!" -whatever that means! But my second reaction: NOT a surprise. What we have come to expect from "them". This should be hyped tpo the skies by all news media but we know of course it won't be. When you go to the online C.Trib and find one mention (2 days ago and yesterday)of a buried article about the O in Rio and nada about any opposition to the O whatya expect from "them". Geee
The Assault on the Law in Wisconsin The ruling on Friday by a liberal Dane County judge to block Governor Scott Walker’s collective bargaining bill was “an assault on the judiciary and the legislature.” The legal argument challenge was, in fact, so weak that it bordered on frivolous… and local MSM coverage has been absurdly uninformed. What happened is that an activist judge ignored the clear language of the state statutes, the state constitution, legislative rules, and Supreme Court precedencts to hand the unions a victory. It’s all breath-taking stuff. Judge MaryAnn Sumi Don’t take my word for it. This is an analysis written by Ellen Nowak, the former legal counsel and chief of staff to the Wisconsin Assembly Speaker: http://biggovernment.com/csykes/2011/03/21/the-assault-on-the-law-in-wisconsin/
SrWoodchuck
As a judge from Dane county [in which the liberal college town of Madison resides] there needs to be an investigation of her ruling in light of the fact that the Wisconsin Secretary of State [a Democrat put there by the Soros, S.O.S campaign?] has said he will not publish the bill until the very end of the 10 day limit; and the fact that the Madison municipal workers union & the Mayor of Madison are quietly & hurriedly negotiating their new contract to beat the bill's activation. [their contract wasn't up until 2012] Then again, as the Dane county judge.......can she legally just say,".....so, Sumi?"
Geee
Judge Sumi’s Husband Donated to Three of Badger 14 There was already cause for Judge Maryann Sumi to have recused herself in the collective bargaining lawsuit since her son, Jake Sinderbrand is a former employee of the AFL-CIO and SEIU, now more conflict of interests have been discovered. Judge Sumi’s husband, Carl Sinderbrand donated to the campaigns of three of the “Badger 14″: Dave Hansen, Jim Holperin and Robert Wirch. Additionally Sinderbrand donated to Tom Barrett in his fight against Scott Walker for the governorship. Judge Sumi’s family has a history of strong ties to unions and a pattern of financially supporting only democratic candidates. This is not the impartiality Wisconsin deserves on the bench. http://biggovernment.com/mtrackers/2011/03/22/judge-sumis-husband-donated-to-three-of-badger-14/
Geee
We have an election coming up for Supreme Court Judge in a few weeks. 'They' are working like crazy to get one of the few conservative judges voted out. Some one is paying for a ton of TV time for this liberal babe who is running against him. Geee
JoAnne Kloppenburg Accepted Donation From Judge Sumi’s Husband On April 5, Wisconsinites will go to the poll to pick a new supreme court justice. The election has gained prominence because many political analysts believe the Budget Repair Bill may one day end up before the high court. Throughout the campaign, challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg has claimed she is politically unbiased and impartial. However analysis of her political history, donations and comments have called that into question. Now Media Trackers has learned that Kloppenburg accepted a campaign donation from the husband of Judge Maryann Sumi, the judge who caused a firestorm of controversy by blocking Gov. Scott Walker’s budget repair bill. Additionally, Sumi’s husband, Carl Sinderbrand, an environmental lawyer, also represents a party in a pending case in which Kloppenburg is defending the other side – the state DNR. Underscoring the growing ties between her campaign and attempts to stop Walker’s agenda, Kloppenburg’s campaign website boasts an endorsement from a vocal member of the “Wisconsin 14” – one of the Democratic senators who fled the state, Sen. Chris Larson. According to Wispolitics.com, Kloppenburg said during a debate with incumbent David Prosser this week that “she also wouldn’t need to recuse herself from any cases on the collective bargaining bill because she has remained independent during the protests in Madison.” However, the donation from Sumi’s husband raises serious questions as to whether Kloppenburg, if victorious, could even hear the state Attorney General’s challenge to Sumi’s ruling, which could eventually reach the state Supreme Court. http://biggovernment.com/mtrackers/2011/03/23/joanne-kloppenburg-accepted-donation-from-judge-sumis-husband/
