WestVirginiaRebel
Politico:U.S. airstrikes in Libya are not targeting Col. Muammar Qadhafi, the Pentagon said Sunday. Vice Adm. Bill Gortney, director of the Joint Staff, said that U.S. forces are not targeting Qadhafi’s residence, but he could not rule out that he might be the victim of accidental or coincidental airstrikes. “At this particular point, I can guarantee that he’s not on a targeting list,” Gortney said. “If he happens to be in a place – if he’s inspecting a surface-to-air missile site, [and] we don’t have any idea that he’s there or not – then, yeah.”Speaking from an unspecified U.S. military aircraft, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the coalition would be unwise to target the longtime dictator. “It is unwise to set as specific goals things that you may or may not be able to achieve,” he was quoted as saying.Gortney said that the no-fly zone encompassing about one third of Libya is effectively in place, and is currently being enforced by the United States, Britain, and France. He said that as of Sunday’s briefing with reporters around 4:00 p.m. EST, the Arab League had reaffirmed its commitment to the no-fly zone. And Qatar, a U.S. ally in the region, is in the process of moving equipment to join the no-fly zone enforcement. He said that there would continue to be attacks on Qadhafi’s ground forces if they continue to advance on opposition forces in Benghazi, but he denied that the U.S. was engaging in “close air support” for the Libyan rebels. “If they are moving and advancing onto the opposition forces into Libya, yes we will take them under attack,” Gortney said. Reports on Sunday indicated heavy anti-aircraft missiles being deployed near Tripoli, which Gortney indicated are likely to be mobile surface-to-air missiles that were not heavily targeted in the initial strikes. Gortney said that nearly all stationary anti-aircraft defenses had been taken out, but that tactical maneuvering is more effective than airstrikes for the “mobile” surface-to-air targets, indicating that U.S. planes would likely continue to face the threat of anti-aircraft fire while flying over Libyan airspace.________Fox News has reported that Qadhafi's compound has been hit. It was probably just an "accident..."
righteousmomma
OH, blab, blab. We certainly can't hurt anyone's feelings. (Never mind that he has killed more Americans by his attacks than anyone else. He is (as I have heard) a split personality and both sides are evil and crafty as a fox.) Casino67
I have a feeling he is going to be collateral damage in one of the bombings. The Brits blew up a building in his compound today. They sort of have a reason for getting him. They got snookered on the Lockerbie(sp) bomber dude. The Brits want to make up for that by killing Daffy. If we allow him to live, what the heck will we have accomplished? If he lives, it will show our weakness and allow him to seek revenge, which he is capable of. Daffy must die. Pepper
We did not hunt Q-Daffy for almost 42 years. Now we get Obama and it is Clinton II or Carter II. From Wikipedia. He is the longest ruling non-royal leader as of this minute: Muammar al-Gaddafi, Libya, Prime Minister/Leader and Guide of the Revolution, 1 Sep 1969 to the Present 41 years, 201 days

SrWoodchuck
The only reason that I can come up with, for releasing this information [wouldn't it be better for him to keep guessing regardless?] is to mollify Farrakhan, Wright & the Nation of Islam. "Loose lips sink sh**s!" Edited to add: The one sure thing that Europe & the US did not want to happen, happened right after "Operation Merciless Unicorn*" started; as Daffy & the de Facto government issued a statement that they are offering China & Russia guaranteed oil contracts. *Go to DougRoss@Journal-March 20,2011 for a complete list of Obama Ops Names
