WestVirginiaRebel
Politico:P.J. Crowley is out as chief spokesman at the State Department after he publicly criticized the Defense Department’s handling of WikiLeaks suspect Bradley Manning, a senior administration official said Sunday.Crowley, a respected National Security Council spokesman under President Bill Clinton, has been on the outs with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who made him her assistant secretary of state for Public Affairs.Michael Hammer, President Barack Obama’s NSC spokesman, had been sent to State earlier this year, with the plan for him to succeed Crowley. The process was speeded up after attendees at a Massachusetts Institute of Technology appearance by Crowley reported that he had called the Pentagon’s handling of Manning, who is detained at the brig at Quantico, “ridiculous and counterproductive and stupid.”At Obama’s news conference on Friday, he said: “With respect to Private Manning, I have actually asked the Pentagon whether or not the procedures that have been taken in terms of his confinement are appropriate and are meeting our basic standards. They assure me that they are. I can’t go into details about some of their concerns, but some of this has to do with Private Manning’s safety as well.”________Now, if they would only get rid of the rest of the stupidity at State...Somewhat related:
NCTexan
The problem with replacing idiots in this administration is that it's like playing a game of Wack-A-Mole. Wack one and there's an endless supply of others just like them.
SrWoodchuck
I am glad he's gone....even though NCT is right. Obama mouthpiece Bobby Gibb's replacement, is less than an improvement. There's always something slightly nutty about diplomats. Their gyrations to avoid insult, the protocol [or in the case of Obama---"notocol"] the fawning over tin pot despots, the couched answers, distribution of favors.....I just prefer knowing where we stand & acting accordingly, but with honesty & respect. Take your pick.....olive branch or arrow.
Pepper
SrWoodChuck Gibbs and now Crowley will be missed like toothaches. Both over their head yet perfectly matched for Obama. Can't have brilliant staff showing up a maroon, doncha know,

Can't have brilliant staff showing up a maroon, doncha know, Pepper, what's a maroon? Obama seems more like a Honduran mahogany. Did you mean a coconut maroon? OK: I looked it up.....it's a term of derision used by Bugs Bunny.....I can get behind that. BTW: There is such a thing as "The Chicago Maroon." I think that this captures the correct spelling for this entire Hopey/Changey administration.
