The Hill:

Senate Majority Harry Reid (D-Nev.) slammed the Republicans' budget proposal on Tuesday as 'mean-spirited' and complained it would eliminate money for a cowboy poetry festival that brings tens of thousands of tourists to Nevada.

The mean-spirited bill, H.R. 1, eliminates National Public Broadcasting," said Reid in a floor speech. "It eliminates the National Endowment of the Humanities, National Endowment of the Arts. These programs create jobs. The National Endowment of the Humanities is the reason we have in northern Nevada every January a cowboy poetry festival. Had that program not been around, the tens of thousands of people who come there every year would not exist.

The Republican plan would slash $57 billion from the budget for the remainder of fiscal year 2011. That budget is likely to face a vote in the Senate on Tuesday evening.

 Harry! Those tens of thousands of people would still exist. They just wouldn't be coming to Nevada for the cowboy poetry festival. I have an idea -- let's let the poetic cowboys read their poems on NPR.

“Cowboy Poetry is a great thing for Elko,” Lawrence said. “I really enjoy it. I love seeing all these people come to Elko and listening to the poetry and music.”

Attendance shuffled between 10 to 15 people all night, and most people just came to enjoy a beer and listen to whoever was on the mic at the time.

“This is the first time we are hosting Open Mic Night before the event officially started,” Western Folklife Center Programs Coordinator Tamara Kubacki said.

Hope the crowd picked up for the rest of the show(?).

How do you like this little tibit hidden in the great unread ObamaCare Bill:

There was a Congressional Research Service report that just was issued in February, and we discovered that secretly, unbeknownst to members of Congress, over $105 billion was hidden in the 'Obamacare' legislation to fund the implementation of 'Obamacare'. This is something that wasn't known. This money was broken up, hidden in various parts of the bill."

Are Congress' hands pretty well tied?

From pauper to prince he did speed,

Special interest bankrolling his greed,

He came out of Nevada,

Spouting 'Lib' yada yada,

"Gimme all that you got," he decreed!

He's now head of the Senate of course,

In his actions, you'll find no remorse,

He's just the way that he is,

In his union shill Biz,

Resembling the back end of a horse.

The new House does not care for his need,

Last year's budget they chop, cut & bleed,

With a nay & a whinny,

This progressive ninny,

Continues to poop out his screed.

It is past what some call a joke,

His lament for the poet cowpoke,

'Cause taxpayers are screwed,

To the wall, by this "Dude,"

& even our great-grandkids are broke.

Shame on you, for your unscrupulous deed,

While our countrymen beg, borrow & plead,

2012 you'll be Whip,

Munch a buffalo chip,

"Dirty Dingus from Nevada" Reid.

That's the end of my Harry Reid yore,

Anymore...and like him...I'm a boor,

Let's end this disaster,

Put them all out to pasture,

Show unions & "Dingus" the door.

I'm from Colorado.....born in Laramie, Wyoming, and had a pickup or two....wear cowboy boots....and own a couple of .45's.....can I be in your cowboy poetry contest?

Edited like a StrangeCanaryBloErnstLurkyKing for grammar and to add more stuff.
