One of the first races to look for is at 6 p.m., when the first polls of the day close in Indiana and Kentucky. If Rep. Joe Donnelly, the incumbent Democrat in Indiana’s 2nd district, can’t defeat Republican challenger Jackie Walorski, that might be the first sign that GOP gains are going to be much higher than 50 seats. If Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly in Virginia’s 11th district and Democratic Rep. Rick Boucher in Virginia’s 9th district get knocked out when polls there close at 7 p.m., that will be the second sign of an epic wave. He was unbearable a few minutes ago when he was interviewing John McCain (who was unbearable himself). Shepard asked McCain if he'd support Sarah Palin for President. McCain sputtered and spewed and said he wasn't ready to endorse anyone. And that we had a long way to go before making a decision for 2012. Why couldn't he have just said, "If Sarah is the Republican nominee... of course I'll support her... but it's a long way to go before we see who's running and have to make that decision." Watching Shepard and John reminded me of these two guys... Shepherd Smith does not play in this house. The remote is in action the minute he shows his face.
