Politico:

Connecticut Democrats Wednesday asked the Federal Election Commission to investigate the WWE’s involvement with Linda McMahon’s Senate campaign.

In a letter to the FEC, Nancy DiNardo, the chairman of the state’s Democratic party, said the Republican is “coordinating with and using the corporate resources of her family’s company” by scheduling events close to election day and using the company’s communications apparatus to answer political questions.

They say the wrestling promoter scheduled two major events in the state to affect voter turnout – a large-scale “Fan Appreciation Day” three days before Election Day in Hartford, and a taping of “Smackdown” in Democratic-heavy Bridgeport on the day voters head to the polls.

The WWE has said the Hartford event is to thank fans for “putting up with everything that’s been said about the company and sticking by us,” according to the Democratic Party’s letter to the FEC – what they say is a sign of coordination between the corporation and campaign.

Democrats are saying the filming of the “Smackdown” at the downtown Bridgeport Harbor Yard arena is an attempt to “suppress voter turnout among constituencies that would not be expected to favor McMahon’s candidacy.” The letter also contends that since McMahon and her husband Vince have a significant financial interest in the WWE, the event is an “illegal coordinate campaign expenditure.”

The McMahon campaign said the complaint is without merit and notes she will not appear at either WWE event.

“The FEC complaint is utterly baseless,” the campaign said. “This campaign scrupulously complies with all FEC regulations and has not and does not coordinate with WWE concerning its various corporate activities. We look forward to the FEC promptly dismissing this specious complaint.”

Sorry, but I think the Democrats are reaching here. If ya smell what Linda McMahon is cooking!

The Dems are using that tactic of going to the FEC with everyone. Doesn't make any sense as the FEC won't get to the case until long after the election.
