New Poll: Coons holds 19 point lead over O’Donnell

DELAWARE ONLINE:

In what is likely to be a new wave of poll results, Monmouth University in New Jersey released results today for the U.S. Senate race.

The telephone poll of 790 likely voters, found 57 percent support Democrat Chris Coons compared to 38 percent backing Republican Christine O’Donnell. (Read pdf )

Inner-party support was a big factor in Coons’ lead. Of those polled, 91 percent of Democrats back Coons while only 67 percent of Republicans back O’Donnell.

Coons is leading among Independents with 51 percent backing him compared to 41 percent for O’Donnell.

The poll found a majority of voters still have a favorable opinion of U.S. Rep. Mike Castle, who O’Donnell ousted from the Senate race in the Republican primary.

“Among that group of voters with a favorable opinion of Castle, most say they intend to vote for Coons (74%) rather than O’Donnell (20%).” the pollsters reported.

Here is a list of their polls. Looks as though they sort of missed Christie's surge. "With 98 percent of precincts reporting, Mr. Christie had 49 percent of the vote, Mr. Corzine 44 percent."(NYT's). Polls are damn tricky things, especially if there is a bias one way or the other.

These results are similar to the other university poll you posted. Any poll of whom the base answers the following question

 

Do you approve or disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing as president? with

Approve 44%

Disapprove 50%

 

Makes further results suspect.

Or else the majority of Delaware is just populated by idiots, liberals, and Democrats, but I repeat myself.

I'm glad you're back areafiftyone. I was afraid you'd been chased away.

 

Thanks you. I'm actually quite happy here. Its very open and honest. I like that. I don't get scared that easily. I like differing opinions. It's hard for me to post on the weekends so you won't see me around much on the weekends. I'm so busy doing stuff that I can't get to during the week because I work too late. Also my Saturdays are spend visiting some patients in a Nursing home so there goes my whole day! Poof! LOL!

I think the whole concept of flat taxes could be a bipartisan thing. Especially with a competent and charismatic champion.

Polly, I would think the special interests would be in full bloom trying to protect their domain. It is such a mess that throwing it out would be a start, but if we think the HCR was a long bill, imagine what that one would result in, thousands and thousands of pages. We would be right back where we started.

I agree. But I believe that most of the current problems in our country will never be resolved until there is true fairness, transparency and simplicity in the tax code. Until then, we will be fighting these same battles over and over.
