JPost.com:

TEHERAN, Iran — Iran's intelligence minister said the country has learned how to fight off a complex computer worm that some foreign experts have speculated was designed to target Teheran's nuclear program, state television reported Saturday.

Heidar Moslehi was also quoted as saying authorities have arrested several nuclear spies, but he gave no details and it wasn't clear if the developments were related.

The destructive Stuxnet worm has surprised experts because it is the first one specifically created to take over industrial control systems, like those at power plants, rather than just steal or manipulate data.

"Iran's intelligence department has found a solution for confronting (the worm) and it will be applied," he was quoted as saying. "Our domination of virtual networks has thwarted the activities of enemies in this regard."

Baghdad Bob said the same thing about US troops in Baghdad.

Recently read that Iran would attempt to fix Stuxnet & every thing they tried made the worm more aggressive, so they stopped trying to fix and instead tried to search out world experts to fix.

Someone said OS was Windows 7, and Microsoft couldn't or wouldn't give any help.[This part may have been a joke]

One other interesting thing, was that a set of numbers that were in the source code were the same as the date that Iran executed it's first Jewish citizen after Ayatollah Khomeni assumed power; leading to a Jewish exodus from Iran.

Edited to add: Stuxnet was put in by USB, as this is a closed system. This means someone had to physically put it in with something like a flash drive.

This story is fascinating. Who would have thought even 30 years ago that a war could be fought without a gun being raised.

It is sort of scary to think that a little dump state like N.K. could be the country that could make us hostage to a computer virus/worm. Our military and government and country rely so much on the computer, the damage a Stuxnet could do is incredible.

What if Stuxnet launched Iranian missiles at Syria, Pakistan, Teheran, and Mecca, not necessarily in that order.

Pepper! Then it's morphed into the "SuxMuzz" worm
