Israel and the United States are making headway toward the goal of developing the David's Sling missile and rocket defense system.

David's Sling, also known as Magic Wand, was designed to intercept missiles and rockets with a range of up to 280 kilometers.

"We believe that we can deploy this in 2014 if we have the required funding," Rafael Advanced Defense Systems chairman Ilan Biran said.

David's Sling, with an interceptor named "Stunner," was being developed by Israel's state-owned Rafael and the U.S. firm Raytheon. In a presentation to a missile defense conference in May 2010, Bitan said David's Sling contained a hard-kill interceptor that could be deployed in any region and work with other Israeli and U.S. systems.
