ErnstBlofeld
East Asia Intel: Taiwan will field its first indigenous cruise missiles by the end of the year, a Taiwanese legislator said last week. Taipei has begun mass production of the Hsiung-feng 2E cruise missiles after acquiring “key components” needed for the missiles, and will start deploying them this year, lawmaker Lin Yu-Fang told AFP. Lin, who is part of the ruling KMT party, declined to provide details but sources said at least a dozen of the cruise missiles have been produced. The deployment would represent a major increase in strategic strike capability for the island that broke with mainland China’s communists in 1949 during a civil war.
