ErnstBlofeld
GeoStrategy Direct: The Israeli intelligence community has determined that Hamas was operating in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula. A report by Israel's open-source intelligence center asserted that Hamas has established an operational presence in Sinai. The Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center said Hamas launched up to seven rockets from southern Sinai toward Israel and Jordan on Aug. 2. "According to Israeli information and reports from Egyptian and Palestinian sources, a squad of Hamas' military wing, the Izzedin Kassam Brigades, was behind the two rocket attacks on the southernmost Israeli city, Eilat and the Jordanian city of Aqaba carried out this past year from the Sinai Peninsula," the report, released on Aug. 15, said. "Hamas did not admit responsibility for either attack, denying it outright in the last incident to moderate the damage done vis-a-vis Egypt and Jordan."
