Center for American Progress Attacks New York As Un-American

The quote from the Center for American Progress:

...let the rest of us understand this: The debate over the Ground Zero Mosque is, in fact, a debate over American values. Those who oppose it don’t have them.

The numbers from Quinnipiac:

New York City voters oppose 52 - 31 percent a proposal by a Muslim group to build a mosque and cultural center two blocks from Ground Zero, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Another 17 percent are undecided.
I don't know how else to read what the Center for American Progress is saying other than as an accusation that a solid majority of New Yorkers -- 52 percent to be precise -- don't have "American values" because they don't like the idea of building a mosque at Ground Zero. (Rasmussen shows a similar percentage (54%) of voters across the nation opposing the mosque.) Don't be shocked though, this isn't the first time CAP has lashed out at New Yorkers for opposition to civil liberties extremism. It was only a few months ago, as New Yorkers grew outraged at the Obama administration's now defunct plan to put KSM on trial in Manhattan, that an associate director at CAP attacked the residents of the city for being wusses:

Some Democrats want Obama to be even more forceful, including on the importance of civilian trials for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other alleged 9/11 plotters. “Obama and the Department of Justice need to get out there and push back very clearly with the public…Frankly, I thought New Yorkers were made of sterner stuff than this—traffic is going to be disrupted?” said Ken Gude of the liberal Center for American Progress.

So the message to New York from the leading institution of the progressive movement: 'Stop being such un-American wusses.' And then people wonder why the progressive agenda is so unpopular...
