Casino67
MSNBC.com:WASHINGTON — After more than two months in the national spotlight and over 17 hours of grueling committee testimony, Elena Kagan is poised to take one step closer to a permanent seat on the bench of the Supreme Court of the United States. The 19-member Senate Judiciary Committee voted Tuesday on Kagan's nomination for the high court, sending it to the full Senate for a final vote in August. The vote was 13-6, with Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham joining the committee's 12 Democrats to approve her nomination. The final outstanding point of suspense throughout the hearings was settled Tuesday, when Graham announced his intention to support Kagan.Graham was the only Republican on the committee to support Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor in 2009.During two days of testimony in June, Kagan won sparkling words of praise from Democratic lawmakers on the committee, including Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., who flatly predicted that she will be confirmed to the high court. One Republican lawmaker, Sen. John Cornyn, even accidentally betrayed the widely-held expectation that she will eventually win confirmation, reportedly referring to the nominee at one point during the hearing process as "soon-to-be Justice Kagan."The top Republican on the panel, Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, announced his opposition to Kagan in an op-ed in USA Today Tuesday, calling Kagan "the least experienced nominee in the last half-century."Cont'd

Pepper
Casino67! What will Gramnesty get in return for this Judas vote? Gramnesty looks kinda sickly, too. Lindsay Lohan would do a better job at anything than Lindsey Graham.

Maybe it is Lindsay just being Lindsay.
