Karl Rove Building The Right’s Answer To The Soros-Led Democracy Alliance
2010 JUNE 24
BY MATTHEW VADUM

Bush political advisor Karl Rove, whom leftists consider to be a Snidely Whiplash-like figure, is reportedly putting together a group on the right to be an answer to the George Soros-led Democracy Alliance.

Politico reports on the developing group, referring to it as

a massive fundraising, organizing and advertising machine based on the model assembled by Democrats early in the decade, and with the same ambitious goal — to recapture Congress and the White House.

Also involved is former GOP chairman Ed Gillespie. “Where they have a chess piece on the board, we need a chess piece on the board,” he said. “Where they have a queen, we shouldn’t have three pawns.”

Although the article says Republicans are trying to “replicate” the Democracy Alliance, the as yet unnamed group isn’t quite the same. Democracy Alliance has teams of professionals directing operations, but it’s not clear how the new group is operating in terms of its internal structure.

The mission of the low-profile Democracy Alliance is to build a lasting political infrastructure of think tanks, activist groups, leadership schools, and media outlets to help the left gain and keep power. It was created by high-dollar Democratic donors –Soros, Peter B. Lewis, Herb and Marion Sandler– after Democrats failed to reclaim power in the 2004 election — despite favorable polls and record contributions by high-dollar donors.

This new Republican-friendly group, on the other hand, appears to be an umbrella group for five separate right-leaning organizations: American Crossroads (voter mobilization); American Action Network (polling and advertising); American Action Forum (policy); Resurgent Republic (polling); and the Republican State Leadership Committee (an association representing state officers such as secretaries of state).

The Democracy Alliance, which counts both SEIU and AFL-CIO as institutional members, helped Democrats give Republicans a shellacking in 2008. Now it’s organizing state-level chapters in at least 19 states, and once-conservative Colorado, which hosts the Democracy Alliance’s most successful state affiliate, has turned Democrat blue. Colorado funders such as heiress Patricia Stryker, technology tycoons Tim Gill (Quark Xpress) and Rutt Bridges, poured money into state-level projects and it paid off.

The national Democracy Alliance funds key institutions on the left: Center for American Progress, Media Matters for America, Catalist, People for the American Way, EMILY’s List, (the now-dissolving) ACORN, and the Secretary of State Project which has helped elect the chief electoral officials in at least nine states.

Will the new Rove-led group make a difference? Time will tell.

Uh, no. The Soros machine is not out to "recapture Congress and the White House", but to undermine, and eventually destroy that which makes America American. Rove seeks to defend America from the predations of soros and his minions.

In my lurid, sensational & overly dramatic way......I think a case for evil can be made:

Merriam-Webster: evil

1a: morally reprehensible: sinful, wicked b:arising from actual or imputed bad character or conduct

2a. archaic: Inferior b:causing discomfort or repulsion: Offensive c: Disagreeable

3a: causing harm: Pernicious b: marked by misfortune: unlucky

thefreedictionary.com: e-vil

adj. e-vil-er, e-vil-est

1.) morally bad or wrong: wicked: an evil tyrant

2.) causing ruin, injury or pain: harmful: the evil effects of a poor diet

3.) characterized by or indicating future misfortune: ominus: evil omens

4.) bad or blameworthy by report: infamous: an evil reputation

5.) characterized by anger or spite: malicious: an evil temper

noun

1.) The quality of being morally bad or wrong: wickedness

2.) That which causes harm, misfortune or destruction: a leaders power to do good or evil

3.) An evil force, power or personification

4.) Something that is a cause or source of suffering, injury or destruction

I know you operate from a cool, logical & knowledgible center.... and thank God for people like you, but evil recognized and prepared for is a necessity for survival-IMO.

It really maters not, weather they are (intentionally) evil or not. The end result of their plans and programs will be a loss of freedom...and that is evil.

IMO we should attack the ideas, not the people.

I don't know, Valin. Wouldn't that be like taking the gun argument and saying that guns ARE evil, not the people who wield them and deliberately end the lives of others? Soros has accumulated a set of ideas and is very deliberately enacting them. His actions are evil.

I might have an idea that I would like to be Queen of the Universe and change things around the way they should be  , but unless I do things to make that happen, the idea isn't evil, but pretty benign. I can only judge Soros' actions, and all in all they're pretty evil.

FWIW.

shoutValin! Agreed.....love the sinner, not the sin.

In terms of the Soros machine, though, I'm willing to believe in the intrinsic evil of his grand designs, along with his capability to foment evil with his billions.
