Politico:

He’s still convinced she’s lying about their “inappropriate physical relationship,” but Will Folks is endorsing South Carolina state Rep. Nikki Haley for governor anyway.

After all that, it turns out Folks doesn’t think the alleged affair matters.

“The fact remains that this election (at least to us) isn’t about whether Haley is telling the truth regarding Sic Willie’s [sic] claim — or a subsequent claim made by lobbyist Larry Marchant — it’s about the hundreds of millions of dollars that will likely be saved as a result of her winning the general election in November,” Folks wrote Friday on his blog, FITSNews.com.

Folks helped turn the national spotlight on the Republican primary for South Carolina governor when he claimed on his blog that he’d had an affair with Haley, who is married and has two children.

Haley has strongly denied his allegation and a second charge leveled by Marchant, a former consultant for one of her defeated rivals, Lt. Gov. André Bauer. Haley has said that she's been “100 percent faithful” to her husband and has promised to drop out of the race for governor or resign from office if either man's charge is proven true.

“We know for a fact that S.C. Rep. Nikki Haley is lying through her teeth every time she denies our founding editor’s claim to have had an ‘inappropriate physical relationship’ with him in the spring of 2007. On top of that, we also know for a fact that she could very well go down in flames if (and more likely ‘when’) this ticking time bomb goes off,” Folks claims in his latest post.

But proof of any affair has yet to surface, and national politicians, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — as well as former South Carolina first lady Jenny Sanford, the ex-wife of philandering Gov. Mark Sanford — have defended Haley and endorsed her campaign.

Folks's unsubstantiated claims did little to slow Haley's electoral momentum: She won 49 percent of the vote in the first round of GOP primary voting on June 8, more than doubling the support of her nearest rival, Rep. Gresham Barrett, whom she now faces in a runoff election.

“We said no to the dark side of politics,” Haley told cheering supporters at her victory party in Columbia, S.C.

Folks knew his story wouldn't hold water, so now of course he's claiming it doesn't matter. Now he can crawl back under his rock like a good little slug.

No wonder he's claiming they had an affair, that idiot wouldn't even get a foul ball off her in a bar much less first or second base. People are taking this serious?!?
